Late with this comment but with regards to the three sisters, I love how the first half's OP highlighted the theme of doubles. The envoys looking alike, Jin and... The other concubine looking alike. Lihua and Shin... The mirrors... And then Gyokuyou being extra like, "Fuck doubles. I am getting triples."

I feel like Kitan was definitely meant to sorta represent the type of person Kamina probably would have been without Simon to ground him - Kamina says it himself that Simon was the person that backed up his words with actions. Without Simon, Kamina would have turned into another thug full of hot air and nothing to back it up, and without Simon's belief in him, I imagine Kamina would have become a lot more aggressive and posturing to cover up any insecurities about his father and his dream.

I like to think, just my own headcanon. Tha the 3 sisters look distinct to everyone else. But Maomao, with perhaps a shade of her father, cant tell their faces apart.
