Feb 12 Patch + ☎️

Today's patch did not disable CC/Mods, everything is still compatible. Just be sure to get the latest Core Library and Suite Life update from last weeks patch if you haven't already. TDESCs are uploaded in the builder even though I'm not sure they even changed anything there.

Introducing the Plum System Telephone

We need some extra positivity in the air so I am happy to share the latest progress of the Plum System Telephone (name wip) with everyone, inspired by the old original Bell System.

With the help from the patrons, the phone mesh is being commissioned from SurelySims while the animations are commissioned from thepancake1. No AI art here!

This phone model was inspired by the desk phones you would often see in hotels/motels or other commercial settings. The existing phone decor that EA has released is actually way too large to be used and would need to be scaled down to match the real proportions of a sim. Our current focus is to make a solid base to expand on, which currently only includes a table phone for teens and older. More table meshes may be made, and we'll expand to wall variants and possibly children! Those require additional animation work.

Outgoing Calls

The Plum System Telephone can do nearly everything your mobile phone does. All interactions that exist on the mobile phone are automatically forwarded to the landline, including mods (like Suite Life's Room Service). My custom animations are played in its place while copying the loot, outcomes, pickers etc of the original interactions.

Interactions that don't make sense on the landline like Trendi, Cupids Corner, the camera are disabled. Future interactions added to the game through BG updates or packs will always be available on the landline by default until they've been determined to not be relevant or have issues, then an update will be made to disable/replace them.

Interactions that have "continuations" (have multiple stages), will cause the phone to be put down and picked back up, however the dialing animation will only occur on the initial interaction. It's not ideal but not the worst.

Incoming Calls

When a call comes in, all the phones in the house will ring! At a base level I am including prank calls from TS1, and will have friends/family call to chat. It would be fun to have scammers/extended warranty calls! Cause we dont get enough spam in our daily lives.

Ultimately I would love to give the ability to completely disable the mobile texts/calls so you only receive calls on the landline. If you miss a call perhaps you could have an answering machine record a message for you to listen to later.

Hotline Bling

I am anticipating a launch in March! We have lots of ideas for things like hotlines and info directories but I'd also love to get this out sooner than later to iron out any kinks you may run into and add more features after. There is so much potential like providing dial up with Simzlink.
