Always wanted to know how the infinite funk drop bass sounds were made :)
Would love to know how the intro to Verdant Glow was created :)
How did you do the ambience in cobalt? Particularly the watery / glittery sound, but it seems that you have many sounds going to the same sends, which makes the watery / glittery sounds blend with the rest of the ambience, pads, and leads. How did you do this?
I've always loved the 2nd drop of Woven - (at 2:45), and would love to learn about your approach to the Foley design and editing, in general, and at that part of the track, mixing those textures to fit so naturally and perfectly with the other elements is genuinely mindblowing :)
First on the Waves Ads now here , u are everywhere , mr. shivax!! <3
the wet basses in Dynasty, imo
The blender-sounding bass on Emerging Path 1:44
ascension bass sound (:
Actually I change my answer, I'd love to see you guys go through how you design FX for ambient and driven backgrounds. Good FX and background noise is so important for production, and all the project stems you release have the coolest FX tracks. Case and point - the Dynasty and Ascension FX stems. They add so much... flavor to the basses and melodies.
Chalk It Out's bass at around the 1 minute mark would be sick. It has such a moist sound that is just insane and i love how the stereo stuff sits. very alien and phasey.
The bass sound from the intro of Cobalt.
Regarding the main bass in Voices of Dissent, I have a few requests. I would love to hear the dry version of the main bass sound used in this trackāwithout any effects applied. If possible, Iād also really appreciate a detailed explanation of the effects chain and automation used on that bass. Iāve watched all the Track Breakdowns and tutorials, including the one for Voices of Dissent, but I must admit that the complexity of the main bass still goes beyond my understanding. Thatās why I would be incredibly grateful for a more in-depth explanation. On a slightly different note, Iād also like to ask about your use of modular hardware. I understand that modular hardware was used in the sample creation process for Red by Ancient Light. If thereās any video or footage showing how the samples were made using the modular system, Iād love to see it. Also, from what Iāve gathered, modular hardware was mainly used for bass design in Red by Ancient Light. In the case of your latest three EPs, how was the modular system utilized? Iād be very interested to hear how your approach may have evolved.
If there isnāt any footage showing the actual sound creation process, Iād love to see a tutorial on sample making using modular hardware instead.
For a specific sound, the main reese bass in Dynasty always hits pretty hard for me and the particulars would be interesting. I imagine it is similar to some of the heavy bass design you have shown before, Then probably one of my favorite moments would be when the lead starts in the main section of Sentient 0:50. That whole section is awesome. Or the first bass hit in Voices of Dissent, that is also such a good moment.

First of all, Iād like to say how much I admire your music. While your bass design is undeniably impressive, I personally find myself especially drawn to the way you craft your instrumental sounds. Iām very interested in the processes behind themāparticularly the distinctive textures you create at the beginnings of tracks, such as the opening of Spirals Unfold or the koto-like tones in Eastern Bump. I would love to learn more about how you build those introductory sections, before the drums or bass enterāwhere melodic or atmospheric elements take the spotlight. I feel that these moments are especially captivating and play a key role in drawing the listener into the track. On a personal note, Iāve always been intrigued by the stretched, suspended-sounding tone around 0:46 in Strident. It has a unique presence that has stayed with me. Thank you for the continued inspiration. Iām using translation to help communicate, so I apologize if anything is unclear or doesnāt come across as intended.
Well said!
The fuzzy bois in hustle hammer would be dope!
Please break down the Bass of "Prism Pulse", thank you!
Yes this one please! Itās gotta be the best & cleanest sounding bass Iāve ever heard
sly fox bass fills on the part b of the drop, the white noise bass from the skillex kill everybody remix, the watery bassesfrom if you hadnāt/opiuo life remix. and uhh basses from infinite funk/7th dimension
please, please breakdown the meanwhile in the future basses
The soloed watery bass from "Tetsuo's Redemption" from 0:56 to 1:08. Also the layering that results in the half-watery, half-rubbery bass hits in the beginning of "Strident" from around 0:41 to 1:20. Thanks!
There were a few I requested from Sanctuary a while back - the clean ringy Fuego chords, the soloed talking bass in Tetsuo's Redemption, mixing strings, processing Koo's vocals
Timestamp for the Fuego chords?
The vowel-y bass from Prism Pulse and the swelling chords in Red Shift are my nominations.
The main bass from Chronos, so filthy
Check out their Chronos track breakdown mate! They show how its made in that video
The fluttering bass sounds from Distance Remix!
Was about to request that one!
Drums from Starlite!!
I've always wondered about the first main bass in Tetsuo's Redemption, I'd also be very keen to know how you made the bass in your remix of 'Reflex Angle' at 49 seconds in. But mainly, what I'd really love to know, (it's less of 'that sound' as in a time stamp in a tune) is how you made the drums in the view from above remix, and in 'Cardinal', I'm sort of aware of the FX you would use but would love to see how you use them and in what order, etc! I'd love to know how you made some of your more melodic stuff, like in the view from above original, the approach to the epic E-Bow sound and the piano, I think I wonder if it's trial and error sometimes, but I know that for me, there is only so much trial and error I can do before I give up, so a lesson on Theory from Jim would be really cool as well, because it seems everything you do that's melodic is equally as satisfying as your drums & bass. In the same way I hear something by Olafur Arnalds and almost instantly know it's him, I get the same with your guys melodic stuff, so it would be lovely to hear about that as well. In songs like 'Lost in Thought', 'View From Above', 'Starlite', 'Sanctuary' and 'Luminary' and many other tunes, that's where I start to appreciate that you're not just incredible at sound design but you have a specific ear for harmony that I'd love to know more about!
Always wanted to know how you made the bass from Reflex Angle. Specifically around 1:15 when it sounds like its in pain and screaming for help, thats the best way I can describe it š
The Strike on-beat bass hits and the liquidy/underwatery mid range tones like around 0:56 and 1:18 š thanks so much!!
I've always wanted to know more about how the fill bass in The Edge at 1:07 was made! I saw some discussions in the past where people thought it said "I warned you, didn't I?" but I guess that's just a coincidence? Anyway, I'd definitely love to see how you guys made some The Edge basses back in your Reason days!
I'm DYING to see how you made the Dynasty bass. Especially way back then. IIRC it was pre-Serum days. Crazy. š
The giant bass/reese sound around the beginning of Voices of Dissent!
I'd love for you guys to show how you made a few of the different pads from the new sample pack. Would be really interesting watching your process from a raw recording, to a final finished pad
We'll cover these in a future tutorial!
