RetroArch

This is a custom RetroArch build rewritten for the MiSTer FPGA dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor to squeeze every possible last drop of performance out of it

The 68000 JIT, Z80, SH-2, ASAP, the AR/CK/K lever sets and the W3 scheduler etc were all rewritten, this improved performance by up to 60%

Video and driver rewrites increased game performance by up to 40%

Device IRQs moved to the second ARM core reduced underruns by up to 85%

Compared to base RetroArch - The final core uses about 43 % less emulation time per frame, which works out to roughly 1.75× faster (+75 %)

RetroForge - The Frontend

• 2908 games, not including clones

• Video and Image snap for every game

• Launch RetroArch and/or normal mister cores

• Games labeled for expected performance - Yellow borderline, red to slow

• Choose to launch the RetroArch or mister core version of a game

• Favorited games sent to top of list

• Open the RetroArch and mame in game OSDs from the mister OSD menu

F.A.Q

• CRT support - Vertical games display rotated correctly (pls post any issue)

• This is a first release and for now it has the mame 2003 plus core only

• Launch RetroArch directly or the RetroForge frontend

• Video files are saved to games/reortatch/.mamefrontend/video

• Load any game from the .mra - just like a standard mister core from the mister OSD

• The Update_All download is 790mb - It included all image snaps

• The video snaps are 6.7gb - Choose to download or not

• You will be prompted if you want to install the video snaps on loading the frontend

• No game mame bugs can be fixed - what you see is what you get

• I can only improve game PERFORMANCE, not individual game bugs/issues

• Later mame version could be added later depending, for more game support

• The frontend scrapes what's actually on your mister, it may say a game is not on mister when it is, because its not on YOUR mister

INSTALL GUIDE - READ

STEP 1 - GET THE ROMS

• I don't provide roms - you will need to click here to search for it yourself

• “MAME 2003 Plus MiSTer FPGA”

• Extract the rom set onto your misters sd card root folder so the roms end up in games/mame2003plus/romshere.zip
  
  For example: games/mame2003plus/aliens.zip
  

STEP 2 - PUT RETROARCH ON YOUR MISTER

• Download RetroForge_20261022_v3.zip

• Extract it to your mister sd card root folder

• Go to Scripts and run Install_RetroArch.sh - YOU MUST DO THIS
  

• Load RetroForge or RetroArch from the Other folder

• Load from mra files directly from Arcade/Meatcores/RetroArch

  
  FOR NEW VERSIONS - COPY TO ROOT OF SD CARD AND OVERWRITE
