Cyber hacking didn’t start in 1995, it started in the 1980’s. Clifford Stoll wrote about in the book The Cuckoos Egg. Several defense agencies were penetrated. It is an interesting story, but the bottom line is that the industry knew before 1995 that they were at risk. There was also discussions later in the 1990’s about not putting critical infrastructure on the internet, yet here we are.

Shawn - you should look up Dr. Massoud Amin. For a long time he was considered one of the leading experts in utility system cyber vulnerabilities. He's be a great interview

I would argue that PG&E is vulnerable in California but largely on the physical side to be fair! For example, a good size wild fire cause shut downs all over! In apartments you see the meters get hacked all the time!

So beyond the legislative in the modern day to write into law, from the technology side of it, for all social media platforms engineers to implement controls that test metadata on every upload to confirm AI generation, realistically what's the success rate for that to not miss the mark? It would be overly extreme to simply prevent any AI generation on them rather then a big label on the individual video so you know beyond a doubt it is, I'm just wondering how effective the controls could be based off of the technology and programs currently being used now
