Fair catch, but different kind of angry — he's not mad about what he became, he's mad at the guy who handed it to him without a warning that actually meant anything.
I am going to throw this out there. Probably wrong. Remember in the old Dracula movies when he had someone transformed into his lackey, but not a full vampire? I wonder if the dealer wasn't something like that because he has none of the feature the transformed take on, yet he is willing to pass on the curse.
