I went with #1. His weathered look, the real grey in the beard, that quiet authority in the eyes — it matched the officer on the page: fifty-something, disciplined, someone who's carried weight for years without needing to prove it. The other two had their own strengths, but this one felt like him.

Nice choice… good to get away from the young stud look. Older seems to add more realism to the fantasy. I always thought it was hot to see an older man with in shape muscles, maybe because it is so rare.
