Namco System 22 + Super System 22 - MiSTer - Beta 1

A year ago, Video Game Esoterica asked the question:

MiSTer FPGA and Namco System 22 — Would It Work?

Today, the answer is YES!

I’m proud to announce the first public beta supporting Namco System 22 and Super System 22 on the MiSTer FPGA platform.

This is an early beta release, so there are still some important limitations:

  • Initial game support is limited.

  • Additional titles will be added as core performance and resource utiwlization improve.

  • System 22 and Super System 22 currently require separate core files due to FPGA resource constraints.

  • Frame rates are not yet perfect across all supported titles.

  • Bugs, glitches, and compatibility issues should be expected at this stage.

But this is a major milestone: System 22 and Super System 22 are now running on MiSTer FPGA.

Hall of Fame, High Score, and Insert Coin tier supporters will soon have the opportunity to vote on where continued development of the System 22 series cores should rank among the other MiSTer FPGA cores currently in development.

More games. More improvements. More to come.

All models—Geoncon2, Dolphin Bar, and AIMTRAK—have been confirmed to work properly on Time Crisis♡ Among them, I was really impressed by GunCon2’s aim, which is used in CRT!! You're such an amazing man https://youtu.be/nH2BiEcCErE?si=RnI3YdbVNxYP-0iK

This is amazing stuff and the holy grail for me personally on MiSTer. Im a superfan of RR, and thank you greatly. Many comments and feedback I could leave, but I know you're probably bombarded right now with "framerate", "Glitches" etc. Played RR2 and Rave Racer, both with lower than ideal frames, tried all resolution settings in the menu and even the lowest seems to struggle with a lot of cars on screen. RR1 didnt seem to load with errors on loading, despite using the ZIP files which work fine on the recent Ridge Racer PC collection.
