TrueFoot Career Engine 1.8: a new tactics board, statistics on every page

Career Engine 1.8 is out. This is our biggest update so far: a new tactics board, statistics on every page, league mods and faster loading. The video above shows it in 90 seconds.

Tactics board

Picking your team should take seconds, so the board now shows you the right player before you ask.

• Pitch, bench and reserves on one screen

• Hold a player: the best five for his position appear, click one to swap

• Drag a substitute over the pitch: every position shows his rating there, the best one marked

• Double-click a substitute: he goes straight to his best position

• Right-click a player: who can replace him, best rating first

• Sort bench and reserves by game order, position, rating or form

• Every swap is checked, and Restore original puts formation, roles and team sheet back

Statistics everywhere

The game forgets season numbers every summer. Career Engine now shows them wherever you pick a player.

• New Statistics tab for any player: this season per competition, with a total row

• Apps, goals, assists, cards, minutes, player of the match and average rating; keepers show clean sheets

• Hover any player name on any page: a season card with apps, goals, assists, rating and last five

• Overview > Key players: goals, assists, rating, OVR and last-five form; click a header to re-sort

• Teams > club > Players: stat columns for each role, a playing-time bar and league rank

• The club page shows its season numbers: scored and conceded per game, clean sheets, top scorer and most assists

• Database > Players: sort the whole game by goals, assists, rating, minutes, player of the match or cards

• Matchday: players to watch with their league rank, and key duels of both clubs

• Tactics: last-five form on the bench; Ctrl+K search shows each player's season line

League mods

Many of you play with big league mods, so we tested Career Engine with LTA and RODE New Season and fixed what we found.

• Leagues in stages (Apertura and Clausura) and zones, with your zone table on Overview

• January to December seasons follow the mod's own dates

• More players and club links read, created players show their names, created clubs open

• Crests, league logos, kits, stadiums and faces from your FIFA Mod Manager mods come first

Squad and player panel

The squad is the screen you open most, so it got a cleaner, faster look.

• New portrait cards: face, shirt number, OVR, POT, form and morale

• The squad table sorts like Database > Players and fits one screen

• Attributes as group cards, with a star on what his position needs

Now in the beta

Two pages the alpha has had for a while are now ready for everyone with the beta build.

• Youth Academy: academy squad, best player and hot prospect, youth scouts and facilities

• Teams: the new club page with hero, kits, the squad by line and club facts

Faster

Career Engine reads a lot when a career loads; we made the slowest checks much quicker.

• Loading a career is about a third faster

• Managers pages open faster with far fewer game reads

New in the alpha

The alpha build gets the newest systems first; they move into the beta as they prove stable.

• Shirt numbers: right-click a player, pick a free number, or swap with a team mate

• Positions tab: his rating at every position, roles + / ++ and position change

• Club > Coaching: your coaching staff, stars per department, every coach's wage

• Agenda: the board's own objectives and your job security, in the game's words

• Past seasons kept before the game resets them, and your Career record season by season

Fixes

A few things you reported, fixed.

• Tactics: changing the formation no longer gets refused after a bench swap the game partly undid

• Past seasons: the game's start-of-career summary stays with its own season, older files fix themselves

• What works updates itself when the game starts, closes, or you load another career
