TrueFoot Gameplay Mod v1.6 Alpha — Supporter Early Access

v1.6 Alpha is ready and it is yours first.

This build is mostly one thing: defending. I went back through every defensive system in the game and compared what we ship against what the game ships. A lot of what I found was our own older settings fighting each other, quietly pulling defenders out of position since earlier versions.

🧤 Keepers come out in one on ones

This is the one I could never solve. Keepers sat on the line and waited, and every attempt to change it did nothing.

The reason turned out to be that the game picks a keeper behaviour tier, and the default tier ignores every aggressive setting. Once that was understood, the rest followed.

  • Reads the runner, steps out, commits at his feet

  • Comes out on angled attacks too, not only through the middle

  • Dives for balls he is not going to reach, which makes the goalmouth look alive

  • Holds a slightly higher starting position instead of living on his line

🛡️ Defending is built around shape

  • Fullbacks hold their zone instead of chasing a winger inside

  • Midfielders cover across the pitch, so the diagonal runner is a midfield problem, not a defender's

  • The deep midfielder tracks a runner all the way back and stays in the second press

  • Defenders step out for someone coming at them, not for someone running past

  • The CPU keeps pressing inside its own half

🔨 Fouls and physical play

  • Contact is scored properly, so challenges that deserve a whistle get one

  • How hard a team tackles varies by team and by moment, some matches are scrappier than others

  • Shoulder duels last longer and carry more weight

  • Shielding is rewarded, so the carrier is not stripped by a bump

  • Winning the ball yourself is less automatic than it was

🎯 Headers were split in two

  • Headed shots at goal tightened over two passes, a striker meeting a cross should hit the target far more often

  • Headed passes went the opposite way and are looser now

  • Knockdowns and clearances drop into space rather than finding a teammate every time

  • That was deliberate: more second balls on the floor means more midfield fighting, which is what the mod is supposed to be about

⏱️ Restarts, closer to the modern game

The laws have been pushing the ball back into play faster, and the game still restarts at its own pace.

  • Goal kicks and throw ins are quicker to get away

  • Keepers waste less time before putting the ball down

  • Corners and free kicks were deliberately left alone, players still need time to get into the box

⚡ The rest

  • CPU shooting from distance and with more power

  • Better vision when the CPU picks a pass

  • More pace on free kicks from players who are not dead ball specialists

  • Keepers kicking long instead of always rolling it out

  • Real match ball weight and tuned air drag

  • Fatigue driven injuries that lean towards knocks rather than substitutions

  • A losing team that keeps trying instead of fading

🔧 About the Tuning Pack

  • The options you already have are being retuned against v1.6, because the base they were built on has moved

  • New options are coming as part of that pass

  • For this alpha, Motion and Motion+ stay compatible and the rest are switched off while it runs

  • That keeps your feedback a clean read on the new work rather than a mix

TrueFoot Hub App or https://truefootmods.com/download

  • Sign in with Patreon, choose the Realism Gameplay alpha, press Download

  • The TrueFoot Hub app is the easiest route, it installs it for you

  • TrueFoot Hub 1.3.8 or newer is needed, older versions will not show the alpha

  • In the Hub the alpha and v1.5 sit side by side and you swap with one button. Save your v1.5 setup before switching, the app will offer to. Nothing is deleted either way

💬 Feedback

Feedback is the whole point of the alpha.

  • Include your difficulty, sliders and match type

  • I am looking hardest at defensive shape, keeper decisions inside the box, foul counts and how the physical duels feel over a full match

Thank you!

Does the mods work only in kickoff or with career mode aswell?

I really enjoy your Gameplay mod, and I appreciate the work you’ve put into defending this cycle. I wanted to share a suggestion from a specific group of players who I think aren’t fully served by the current tuning. There are players like me who play Career Mode mostly through the Tactical View — we watch the match from the manager’s dugout perspective and let the CPU control both teams. We don’t control a player directly; we watch the AI play out the match. We love your Gameplay, but what we’re looking for is a specific experience: a CPU vs CPU match that is exciting and full of energy, while the underlying stats (possession, shots, expected goals, scorelines) stay close to what real football looks like. Right now, the default tuning seems designed around player-controlled matches, where the human is one side. When both teams are CPU-controlled and viewed from the Tactical View, the match can feel different — either too chaotic or too flat — and the stat lines can drift away from realistic football. So I’d like to suggest one of two things: A dedicated settings recommendation for Tactical View / CPU vs CPU players — a specific slider and setting combination we can apply to get an exciting but realistic-looking match. Or, if possible, a separate, specially-tuned version of the Gameplay designed for CPU vs CPU viewing in Career Mode, so the match stays lively and the data stays believable. Thanks for all your work. I hope this feedback is useful, and I’m happy to test anything you release for this.

When a player takes a penalty or a free kick, at the exact moment the boot makes contact with the ball, the player’s position shifts slightly — almost like a little twitch or jerk, as if the body teleports a few pixels to the side for a split second before the animation settles. It happens consistently on penalties and free kicks (not on open play, as far as I can tell), right at the moment of contact. I’m not sure which part of the overhaul is responsible — might be the animation blending, the timing of the kick animation, or the way the body is repositioned at contact. I’d love to know if there’s a specific setting or a fix I can try, or if this is something you’re already aware of. Thanks for all your work on the mod.
