Los Santos Alive — AI Callouts Update

This update represents a major step forward for Los Santos Alive—and what we believe is the next major evolution of LSPDFR.

Instead of following a predetermined callout, players now step into dynamic AI-driven incidents where everyone has something to say, something to hide and the freedom to change what happens next.

Alongside AI Callouts, this release introduces support for Gemini 3.1, delivering a transformative improvement in response speed and a much wider selection of voices. It also includes a major optimization pass, substantial improvements to NPC-to-NPC interaction, more reliable action execution, expanded weapon control, new group-command capabilities, and further integration with the Context 2.0 pipeline.

Gemini 2.5 remains available for players who prefer its behaviour, voices, or overall conversational style.

Patreon supporters can now access the update, provide feedback, and help shape the future of Los Santos Alive.

Major Feature — AI Callouts

AI Callouts transform traditional police scenarios into dynamic incidents powered by AI.

Rather than arriving at a scripted sequence with a predetermined suspect, victim, and outcome, players respond to situations populated by people with their own identities, motivations, possessions, records, and individual understanding of what has happened.

Living incidents

Callouts are already in motion before the player arrives.

People may already be:

  • arguing

  • fighting

  • threatening one another

  • pleading with a hostage taker

  • attempting to escape

  • coercing someone into committing a crime

  • negotiating

  • fleeing

  • escalating the situation

The incident does not wait for the officer to trigger the next stage.

The player arrives in the middle of a living situation and must determine how to respond.

Every person has their own perspective

Victims, suspects, witnesses, and bystanders do not share a single omniscient version of events.

Each person has their own:

  • account of what happened

  • motives

  • emotions

  • relationships

  • knowledge

  • misunderstandings

  • personal interests

People may disagree, misremember events, omit information, or interpret the same incident differently.

There is no scripted narrator telling the player who is right or wrong. The player must listen, investigate, compare accounts, and decide what they believe happened.

Fully generated participants

Every person involved in a callout can be generated with their own:

  • name

  • age

  • gender

  • inventory

  • wanted status

  • licences

  • permits

  • personal circumstances

  • role within the incident

This allows investigations to extend beyond dialogue.

A person’s records, possessions, legal status, and behaviour may all become relevant to the situation.

Location-aware scenarios

Callouts are tailored to the location in which they occur.

The people, conflict, environment, and circumstances can be adapted around locations throughout Los Santos and Blaine County, allowing the same broad premise to become a very different incident depending on where it happens.

Generate the incident you want

Players can define the type of scenario they want to respond to.

Examples include:

  • a domestic dispute

  • a desperate hostage taker demanding money

  • mysterious deaths surrounding a remote cult compound

  • a violent confrontation between multiple groups

  • a person attempting to escape an isolated community

  • an argument involving people who cannot understand one another

  • a welfare check that develops into something far more serious

Describe the scenario and Los Santos Alive generates the people, context, conflict, and circumstances around it.

Unscripted outcomes

AI Callouts do not have one predetermined ending.

Depending on the incident and the player’s response, people may:

  • cooperate

  • lie

  • surrender

  • flee

  • attack

  • threaten others

  • change their behaviour

  • interrupt interviews

  • escalate the situation

  • calm down

  • reveal new information

The player’s decisions determine how the incident develops and how the final report is written.

Gemini 3.1 Integration

Los Santos Alive now supports Gemini 3.1 as its primary AI model option.

This represents one of the most noticeable improvements to moment-to-moment interaction in the update.

Transformative response-time improvements

Gemini 3.1 substantially reduces the delay between speaking to an NPC and receiving a response.

Conversations feel faster, more immediate, and more natural, allowing interactions to flow with significantly less interruption.

This is especially important during:

  • rapidly developing callouts

  • negotiations

  • arguments

  • combat situations

  • group interactions

  • interruptions

  • time-sensitive commands

  • fast exchanges between multiple NPCs

The reduced response time makes AI characters feel considerably more present within the world.

Expanded voice selection

Gemini 3.1 also introduces access to a much wider variety of voices.

This allows NPCs to sound more distinct from one another and gives players greater control over the voices used throughout Los Santos Alive.

The expanded voice selection improves variety across:

  • suspects

  • victims

  • witnesses

  • officers

  • companions

  • civilians

  • gang members

  • security personnel

  • callout participants

A broader voice library also helps reduce repetition when interacting with larger groups of AI-driven characters.

Gemini 2.5 remains available

Gemini 2.5 remains available as an optional model for players who prefer its existing voices, conversational behaviour, or overall interaction style.

Thanks to major improvements in Los Santos Alive’s underlying interaction systems, Gemini 2.5 also benefits from faster, more responsive NPC-to-NPC conversations in this update.

Players can choose whichever model best suits their setup and preferences without missing out on the broader interaction improvements introduced in this release.

Performance and Reliability

Large optimization pass

A substantial optimization pass has been completed across the mod.

This includes improvements to processing, contextual updates, interaction handling, and several underlying systems used by active NPCs.

The goal is to support larger and more complex interactions while maintaining responsive behaviour and reliable execution.

Improved actions and transitions

Action execution and transitions between actions have been significantly improved.

NPCs should now move more reliably between behaviours without previous actions interfering with new instructions.

This includes improvements to:

  • chained actions

  • action cancellation

  • combat transitions

  • vehicle transitions

  • weapon transitions

  • NPC-to-NPC actions

  • persistent behavioural states

NPC-to-NPC Interaction Overhaul

NPC-to-NPC interaction has been substantially improved for speed, reliability, and integration with the Context 2.0 pipeline.

Interactions should now be more coherent, complete, and capable of developing naturally over time.

NPCs have greater awareness of:

  • who they are interacting with

  • what has already happened

  • the current state of the scene

  • actions being performed

  • opportunities for escalation

  • changing social and physical circumstances

This creates stronger foundations for arguments, negotiations, threats, robberies, confrontations, cooperative behaviour, and more advanced emergent interactions.

Team Commands

Players can now address groups of NPCs as a team.

This makes it possible to issue one instruction to multiple people simultaneously, such as commanding an entire SWAT team to perform an action together.

Team commands are still being expanded, but the underlying system is now functional and provides a foundation for more advanced group coordination.

Expanded Weapon Control

NPCs can now select and use specific weapons based on context and instruction.

They can:

  • choose the exact weapon they want to equip

  • equip a specific weapon

  • unequip or stow a weapon

  • give a specific weapon to the player

  • use a specific weapon for intimidation

  • use a specific weapon when attacking

  • transition between weapons more reliably

This allows weapon-related interactions to be significantly more deliberate and contextually appropriate.

New Movement and Vehicle Behaviours

Patrol behaviour

NPCs can now patrol around an area without requiring a fixed destination.

This supports guards, officers, companions, security personnel, gang members, and other roles that need to remain active within a location.

Free-driving behaviour

NPCs can now drive around without being assigned a specific destination.

This allows vehicles to remain active naturally rather than always travelling toward a predefined endpoint.

Contextual vehicle entry

NPCs can now enter vehicles based on the surrounding context.

Previously, many vehicle-entry actions depended on the player already being inside the relevant vehicle.

NPCs can now identify and enter appropriate nearby vehicles without requiring the player to occupy them first.

Thank You

A huge thank you to everyone supporting the project, sharing clips, submitting bug reports, testing new systems, and suggesting ideas.

The pace of development has been immense, and this update represents only the beginning of what these systems can become.
