Headgear Showcase (Part 1) + Update v1.1
Ever wanted to wear a headgear in your favorite game or simply add more immersion or even an extra challenge? Now you can!
In this post, I'll showcase some of the available headgears across different games. Combined with the various lens effects (15 at the moment), they create an even more immersive and authentic gameplay experience.
Every headgear can be combined with every lens effect, except for headgears without a visor, such as the "Trucker Cap", "Wreckfest" and "Barbute". You can also adjust the scale of the lens effects, and starting with Update v1.1, all headgears can be scaled independently as well!
Headgears
"Desert Storm"
This one is based on the US Army desert uniform. In combination with the "Dusty" or "Very Dusty" Lens Effect always a great choice!
"F1"
The "F1" headgear is perfect for all kinds of Racing Sims. Simple lens effects like "Scratchy" or "Wiped" looks great on this one.
"Wreckfest"
This headgear is a perfect fit for survival games as well as racing games like BeamNG or Wreckfest 2. (That’s actually where the name comes from ;)
The binocular transparency effect was also taken into account:
When you look at a distant background, your eyes focus far away. Since your eyes are a few centimeters apart, each eye looks past the close helmet bars from a slightly different angle. The left eye sees what is hidden behind the bar for the right eye, and vice versa.
Your brain combines both views into one image. As a result, the background shines through, and the bars appear see-through or transparent.
"Bike"
As the name suggests, this headgear is excellent for motorcycling, though it can of course be used in many other scenarios. Perfect in combination with lens effects like "Very Scratchy".
"Barbute"
The "Barbute" helmet is one of the most elegant and distinctive helmet types of the late Middle Ages. Perfect for games like "The Elder Scrolls" or "Kingdome Come Deliverance".
"Specter"
The "Specter" is a futuristic military helmet suitable for many scenarios, not just shooter games. Here I combined it with the lens effect "Very Dusty".
"Paladin"
Are you into big challenges or heaps of frustration (or both)? Then the "Paladin" is made for you! With such an extremely narrow visor, you have to know exactly what you're doing!
Lens Effect Visibility
The visibility of lens effects depends on two factors: the selected lens effect itself and the current lighting conditions. Some effects are intentionally subtle and become more noticeable only in bright environments or when light sources hit the lens at certain angles. This behavior is designed to simulate the natural appearance of a real visor or camera lens.
These are just 7 of the 12 available headgears. How do you use them?
It's simple! You can activate headgears directly from the GrimVisionFX shader menu using a slider in real time - no ReShade reload required!
Are more Headgears planned?
Yes! More Headgears (and Lense Effects) will be added in future updates.
What's New in v1.1?
A new headgear scaling option has been added to GrimVisionFX, allowing you to adjust the size of headgears in real time
The "Barbute", "F1" and "Paladin" headgears has been slightly darkened
The user manual has been updated
