Recording Drums
Mr. Bryan Szymanski recently asked me to collaborate on a song with him. I pulled out my drums, squeezed them into my tiny studio space and started recording. Watch the process!
I've always enjoyed the process of recording drums, but never really known how to do it. That hasn't changed. But through trial and error, I'm slowly dialing in a recording setup that works for me.
Mics:
TOMS - Shure SM57
SNARE TOP - Telefunken M80
SNARE BOTTOM - Shure SM57
KICK-IN - Shure Beta 52a
KICK-Out - Roswell K47 mini

Software:
Reaper is my DAW of choice ... which is weird to most people.
Sonnox Drum Gate (to clean up snare mics)
Empirical Labs Distressor
XLN Audio Drum Butter.
Preamps
Audio Interface - Focusrite Clarett+ 8pre
Focusrite Clarett OCTOpre
Warm Audio WA73 (KD-OUT)
Warm Audio WA12 (Overheads)
Cranborne Audio Camden (Snare Top)
and probably other things!
Recording Drums is a thing I'm doing in this video that you're watching. (YouTube)
