Hello everyone, I'm very sorry for my recent absence. The sudden death of my father weeks ago was a shock that required a lot of bureaucratical and emotional labor and it has taken much of my time and energy. It's still an ongoing process in fact. He had no will, a lot of debts, and plans that needed to be canceled. You don't really get to rest and grieve until all the bureaucracy is dealt with. If I had any advice to give to you all, it's to make sure there is a plan for when these things happen. We don't like to think about it, but it will happen to all of us eventually. The last thing you want is to go into debt paying 10s of thousands in bills until you get life insurance, which can take weeks or months to acquire without a plan.
Thank you all for sticking with me and supporting me through this time. I wish my creativity could flow as it did, but it will take time for things to go back to normal. We were planning a trip to Europe together this fall, we rarely ever vacationed, but it's one I'll be taking without him now. I was eager to start the development of v0.18 early but it seems something always happens between updates to fuck things up. So again, thank you so much for your support during these times. I wouldn't have been able to give him the burial I think he would have wanted without it.
I am actively trying to work now but the creative process is very strained for the time being. Things are slow, but I'm certain they'll go back to normal given enough time. I will keep you all updated with greater frequency going forward.

I lost my father 7 years ago to suicide, I know what you feel so you have my deepest condolences. Take the time you need and be with your family while you all need it the most, Runey. Come back and give us 0.18 whenever you are able and stable, taking however much time you need.
My condolences. It has been almost a year since my grandfather died. My younger brother and I have been living with him and my grandmother to help take care of them. The four of us had a routine and everything put together around the old man... even now we find ourselves setting his place at the table, expecting him to make his quips about dinner being awful, or being asleep in his chair. Best I can say is to give it time for the pain to lessen and hold onto the best gift he left you: memories.

Take your time Runey. I had an extremely similar situation 3 years ago and it took over 3 months before it seemed like the state would let him die. Things do get better and life will eventually go on. Just take it slow and give the amount of emotional and creative power towards this project that you feel is doable (even if thats 0%). We'll wait patiently for you and your family's recovery from this <3
I’m so sorry, it’s very difficult, I’ve been there. Things never go back to how they were but they do get better. Take your time, your content comes second to you.

Take care of yourself and don't forget to smile. Even if it's a fake smile, they day it releases endorphins that make you feel better. Also, grief will take time. I lost my dad and and often broke down crying at random alot. But it will get better with time.

Oops that wasn't meant to happen.. so very sorry for your loss but take your time getting through all the important details, I am somewhat in the same position as my father died last year and I am still sorting stuff out from his estate..

Deepest condolences to you. Remember to give yourself more time for quite some time. The bureaucracy will fade away 'soon'. Some of your memories will do so also. Hang on to those memories that you hold dear and forgive the bad ones. Good luck.
Sorry to hear about your father having helped deal with my in-laws' funeral and estate I have some idea about the work involved. It's a slog,but you'll get through it. Take the time you need, it's important to get right.

Take some time off, do whatever you need to do to process and recover from this, get your head right, and then come back only when you feel ready. I'd rather wait a while longer for you to be in a good place to keep working than have you pushing yourself to do it NOW just because.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what you are going through. My father died last year and it was a very similar situation. Please take your time and do what you need to do. I see the pouring in of support from others on here which I hope brings some solace to you.

Been there. It was a pretty rough time. Took a while to get my head back into a decent place. I learned to really appreciate those true friends willing to give the room and time I needed to get my feet back under me so to speak. SO, you do whatcha gotta. I'll be here as long as I can.

You have my deepest sympathies, and like everyone else, I would say take your time. I'd rather have it done well than done fast. With that said, I will at least say a prayer for your father's peaceful rest.......aaaaaand now I'm envisioning Autumn in a slutty nun outfit, so that's what I get.
