Toy Story 5 is a weird movie

No, I totally understand that sorta strong, lifelong connection you can form with toys you grew up playing with, which is why I'm going to name my first born Draculaura
No but why where there like 3 suicide jokes in this movie I was gagged
Maybe I do have to see it
I also thought the movie was fine, but I got to admit I like the repetitive focus on the toy angst of being abandoned. There is something interesting about these beings that are eternally trapped by their desire to be played with. Toy Story 4 is my least favorite because it implies they can have a life outside that. Their lives should be a constant cycle of torment. Its fun to watch.
Wasn't Lotso the evil bear's ending to be tied to the front of a truck forever? So they definitely can do an ending where the villain is punished. I figured they didn't want to condemn Lilypad's existence because Disney doesn't want to put people off of buying/using tech they profit from.
yes that's true. What I meant was that the new IDEA must be embraced. Forces that appear scary and chaotic must be internalized as manageable and acceptable by the end of the movie)
i mean disney adults are going to be the parents who throw a ipad at their little children anyway
I don't mean this in a bad way, but your job is often reacting and analysing children's media. Perhaps you were unaffected by giving up the toys because there is less bifurcation in your life between the children's and adult world than others.
nope
If I was more conspiratorially minded I would say the writers couldn't outright condemn the iPad because Disney wants to sell more brainrot to kids, but I honestly just think they made the iPad character too cute and they lacked the courage to murder it like old Pixar would have.
Didn't even know there was a part 4😶
Weird pet peeve: I don't know why they wouldn't just use iPad, the word, that everyone knows, for the thing. Product placement, extra $$ and everyone can guess what is it meant to be anyway. They just have to pretend there's a cutesy-name less harmful tablet for kids out there - I kinda doubt there is one. Anyway the pet peeve - lilypad sounds a lot like a menstrual pad - I swear I have this thought that lily was an actual brand of them, maybe just a local brand in this country, and that just seemed like a really odd context choice given the age of the children in the movie. Maybe it's the actual branding of those, usually packaged in a brightly colored package with lilly (or other) flowers. Or it could've been just me, so I checked - and while it's not what I seemed to have recalled, there's this, which the movie authors totally could've found if they used google once https://www.instagram.com/lilypadstt/ (it predates the movie by 7 years). Probably coincidence, and I guess there's nothing strictly wrong about teaching kids about this a bit too early, but maybe some of the actual parents of the actual kids who saw the movie and have an actual iPad to search google afterwards, might get caught off guard with a highly out of place question. I did say it was a weird pet peeve upfront.
