You should definitely read the rest of them for our viewing pleasure. I love the project of authentically engaging with media that's performatively hated on.

I'm thinking about all of the context around women's poetry, especially regarding breakups or emotional release and expression, and how a LOT of it kind of happens between women? and I'm thinking that if you try and make a longer video with a Point.. it's just going to come off really mean and bitter. And male. Really, really male. I actually really love when and what the Joel shares about poetry, but to make something good.. don't use a poet that you'll be interfacing with through cynicism. Big Joel reviews a dated anthology about some girl's breakup and body positivity writing is not the move. But Shakespeare's poems on love? Actually not a Shakespeare fan either, but like... we're getting warmer.

I was talking with friends in a group chat about that evil doctor who froze his own legs off and I wrote a poem about it that I would like to share with you: Apparition of Dr Coldfeet Stirs the dust in the empty theatre No child now cries for justice In this last empty silence Legs are now cut And gone YOU'RE WELCOME (that's not part of the poem)

Doesn't your "that's not a poem" comment apply to every single one of them? There was only one with an actual verse, everything else seemed like statements taken off a faux meaningful instagram post. Which I guess is what it used to be before it was in a book.

'High highs and low lows' is a good descriptor of Kaur to me -- some of her stuff can be quite powerful or funny, but some just feels like filler or trite Social Media Feminism (TM). I feel like if you condensed her three books you'd probably have one quite good book. But also it's all masked by the nonsense she got for Being the Woman the Internet Hates for a while. It's hard to have a good faith discussion about her. So I apprecaite this vid.
