What was the deal with the Nick Viagas Show?
You mentioned hello kitty and had a pompompurin plush in your Osaka expo video. Do you like Sanrio/hello kitty? If so, what are your fav characters?
In one of your bonus videos you mention the possibility of doing polls or suggestion boxes for bonus videos, is that something you're still considering? Personally, I'd be down for that.
favorite carbonated beverage???
I've always been interested in the art you have and put in your videos, and why you choose to pick the ones you do and the stories behind them, if there are any. In particular, why do you have duplicates of several of the paintings you own? Also, is the painting of the man on the horse who looks vaguely crucified a Marino Marini? It looks like one, but I'm not certain.
why did you change the thumbnail for your video about the boy in the striped pajamas, did you think it would just do better or is there a different reason
would you rather poop from your mouth forever or have your eyes on your butt?
What time is it?
what's your moon sign, if you don't mind sharing? and, is that something you already knew (in the past or currently) or something you've never looked up?
how did you achieve bigness at such a young age?(!)
You tackle a pretty wide range of media, so I imagine you spend a lot of time looking at stuff and trying to decide if there's something worthy of commentary in it. What are the kind of works that most often leave you going "well, not much to say about that"?
We've seen you make little songs for the channel and sing a bit, have you ever been genuinely interested in music or are all of these just for the silly?
i imagine you only use classical music in the bg to evade copyright issues, but as a classical musician i have to ask: are you a classical music enjoyer? if you are, what is your favorite piece/era?
Do you still sometimes feel the way you felt in your Little Joel video “A Dark Room Filled With Dead Trees”? Personally I’ve never felt that your videos were like your interpretation of Reconstruction, though I think some other YouTube creators do just chop down forests of art to make videos of dead leaves. (You don’t have to say this part but I think Jacob Geller does this a lot). Has your perspective changed, do you think you’ve improved as a writer since then?
are you still working on the Irreversible Damage video or have you dropped the idea? also your whistling was very good thank you for that
Would you ever consider being in a romantic and/or sexual relationship with a machine?
Who are you nominating for Anti-semite of the year?
What is the stickies smell you know? Thanks, Mazey
Stinky
Will you critique my poem for bobo? https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/indtcsm2uslr64zlsl52w/Poem-for-Bobo.m4a?rlkey=hc0bitfno9vli9gp8hwfix741&st=5r9m01w0&dl=0
I'm a big enjoyer of your media analysis videos! A lot of your best ones imo are of stories that fail in some way, like Boy in the Striped Pyjamas or Carousel for example. I wonder if this is because you see the failure of the author's intent as revealing something interesting about the contradictions in the ideological structure of the story (and perhaps of society more broadly). Is that part of why you like bad media so much?
Ketchup or ranch with your French fries?
Do you have any favorite video games?
Do you find it strange that thousands of people have probably seen you in their dreams?
Can you do a video on Zootopia and it's strange racism allegory
hey Joel, how do you feel about the accusations towards taylor swift/travis kelce of being Maga supporters and allowing bigotry and dogwhistles into her merch and lyrics? Part of me wants to take this very seriously as she has such a young, massive fan base and what she say does go into the cultural zeitgeist. But the other part of me thinks that getting hung up on taylor swift (who in my opinion was never that feminist or inclusive to begin with) is taking attention away from the blatant, violent bigotry that is getting normalized in young conservative groups. do you have any thoughts?
If you were to do another game review like your Super Mario Bros 3 video, what game would you choose?
Have you seen the 2025 Animal Farm?
Do you ever participate in any winter activities like sledding or skating? If so, what is your favorite?
What did your spotify wrapped/apple music equivalent look like this year?
Are you spiritually more of a Joel or a Henry?
What is the coolest pair of socks you own?
I thoroughly enjoy your song videos, so much so that many of your songs get stuck in my head. Did you do musical theater when you were growing up? What’s your process for improvising songs?
Would you rather have teeth for hair or hair for teeth
what was your favorite high school book you read in english class?
I love the pieces of art you have in the background during videos. What's your favorite art museum that you've been to? I'm sure Europe has a lot of interesting ones!
some of your videos feel more like essay films than video essays. have you seen or do you like any essay films?
I was wondering about how the process of video creation works when you are working with mothcub as an editor, especially in multi-part review videos like the DCOM one. Is order of the movies a scripting decision or an editing one? Are you giving input on editing stuff regularly or do you basically hand over the footage and trust her judgement? (Also as a sidenote, I love the way those videos are structured and that you don't put the videos in an order such as chronological or alphabetical. I see weird comments about that sometimes and I think those commenters are dead wrong.)
P.S. feel free to edit this down if you read it out lol
Is there anything you do to feel less negatively affected by the news and people who suck online? I want to stay engaged with current events and do a little activism. But reading about an immoral political choice, or seeing a bigoted person online can sour my mood for hours
Not a question really, but I highly recommend the series Eerie Indiana. Its a wild show that seems perfect for analysis.
How much per hour would you charge to come to my birthday party and be my freind. What do you think of Robert Downey Jr. in Doolittle and his performance in that post MCU? Do you think him being Iron man for so long contributed to that movies issues?
do you like personality tests (MBTI, enneagram, DiSC)? have a favorite?
hello, big joel, my question has a few items so i'll get straight to it: what books did you read this year? how many of them did you read for reasons not related to video research and which ones prompted you to make a video? i hope that wasn't too greedy of me, i'm just a big fan of reading recaps.
Your beard looks nice and curly and clean. Can you tell us about your facial hair maintenance?
I’ve been discovering new video essayists on YouTube, and while binging their catalogs, I keep stumbling upon sections voiced by you in their work. Are you a part of some secret elite video essayists cabal?
If you could adapt/reimagine any piece of media, what would you choose and how would you go about doing so?
Do you know what The Jojolands is? In an earlier Little Joel vid you were reading subjects your viewers were interested in, presented to you from YouTube. The Jojolands was one of them. My sister and I always argue if you know what it is, and if I was the audience member who caused you to read its name. So can you confirm if you are aware of the series, and/or give me personal credit for your awareness?
if you were to teach a college course on fiction, what topic would you teach and what are some works you would include in your curriculum?
Do you have a favorite nursery rhyme or children's poem/song?
Do you own a labubu?
I apologize if you’ve already answered this, but what are your favorite Ghibli movies? Do you like any other anime?
