I went to the World Fair with my friends in April and watching this video made me remember saying aloud "huh, that guy looks like Big Joel" but I kinda figured it wasn't him so I just went back to wandering around lol

My mother is a huge fan of the whole myth of the 1939 World’s Fair. My childhood home is covered in memorabilia from the fair. I live in Japan now and have for a few years, so it was natural that I’d go in her stead and report back, maybe grab some sweet expo goods for her. I was quite disappointed, really. As you mentioned, I felt like the “expo energy” wasn’t there. The expo has always been a commercial venture; one of the most famous things at the 1964 fair was the Sinclair pavilion, with all of the dinosaur statues now featured as roadside attractions across the USA. I can’t help but feel like the commercials at the 2025 expo were just so… boring. I was very bored, like the whole time. I didn’t go to Myaku Myaku House though, so honestly it’s probably all on me. Anyways, love the pivot, can’t wait for the next travel vlog

Thoroughly disappointed with the absence of the Italy pavilion. We had technological wonders such as animatronic talking spaghetti, anime mussolini, and the tower of pisa if it was straight. I think, I don't really know I didn't look it up

I was just there! And I bought an authentic Myaku-Myaku figurine while I was there! I gotta hand it to Japan, only they would be daring enough to make a biblically-accurate, eldritch being into their adorable mascot.

I watched this one with my mom. She had saved a newspaper article about the expo awhile back and was really interested. She was a bit disappointed by what was shown but we had nice time watching :) the intro pavilion songs were cracking me up
