The Internet's Purest Hater | Bonus Video
Sorry for the delay, you'll have the next bonus vid in just a few weeks I guess. The Q&A is coming, but the cold makes it hard to record for extended periods. Hope you enjoy this (slightly lazier) bonus video

Always funny to hear “this is the biggest ___ trend in history” about something I’ve never heard of. I live in Philadelphia and the closest one is a few miles out in the suburbs, so it makes sense I wouldn’t have heard of it. But idk, if it’s the biggest food trend ever I would imagine it being like Michael Jackson in 1985-level famous where everyone on earth is familiar with it, if only through cultural osmosis. I’d also expect the biggest food trend in history to have made inroads in the market of the sixth biggest city of the country in which it originated.
i think it’s funny how youtubers/influencers often forget that not everyone is as chronically online as them. like i know people who aren’t online at all and just like crumblr as a fun treat on occasion and their social media presence and marketing has nothing to do with that lmao
like it’s just a store guys. to many it is just a store that popped up in their area.
So he starts by treating utterly commonplace phenomena as new and remarkable, then ends up reaching for unevidenced and offensive explanations for their existence.
Also, I can't wait for his video on how Mormons are good business guys.
Yummy cookie yum yum
Why does he have the exact same tone as Tucker Carlson? It's like patronizing and befuddled at the same time.
great now i cant unhear it
This is somewhat tangential to the cookies, but when he says that the calories are a problems because “we’re just monkeys”, he shows a video of a chimpanzee solving a puzzle. These specific puzzles shown are impossible for humans to solve, but not for chimpanzees because they can process the numbers on screen faster than we can. I feel like it hurts his argument to show this super-human feat as exemplary of “monkey” intelligence.
That's not fully true, this is based on one study, where juvenile chimps out performed human volunteers. The chimps had more practice than the human volunteers and the older chimps didn't perform any better than humans.
There’s at least 5 crumbles in the chicago area all of which are in trendy dense neighborhoods
you can only be a true hater if you stop trying to morally justify it. Just say you think the cookies are cringe and that people who buy them are cringe. Honest, pure haterism is a dying art.
Also I enjoyed this video a lot! I love when you do reaction stuff, your commentary is always funny and insightful:)
I just started the Video and it is in German for some reason, with an ai Voice creeped the fuck out of me
seems like auto-generated dub is a new feature or something? when I play it on Patreon, the player plays it back in Japanese, lol.
Holy fuck Henry you say this must be your worst bonus video but it might be the fucking funniest ever. "I think people like to go to da store and get da cookie" is a phenomenal quote that sums up this whole video and I love it for that
Hater man criticizes Crumbl like he was paid to make them look good
The thing about Crumble being in the suburbs is especially funny because the obvious explanation is that land is cheaper to lease there so they can expand their brand more quickly
Yeah that's the obvious explanation isn't it? No need for some weird conspiracy theory.
See, this is why good video essays take so long to make, bc I think if it was a long video about conspicuous consumption/consumption as self expression/corporate hacking of human behavior, and used crumbl and labubu's business models as examples (and just their business models, not all the judgemental nonsense about adults liking toys and desserts), I'd be more onboard. You'd have an essay with supporting evidence for the big conclusion "a lack of community drives people to look for fulfillment in ways corporations can exploit," but saying that after ONLY talking about crumbl really does make it sound like "the masses are corrupted by yummy cookie."
Maybe this is just me... this guy sounds exactly like Tucker Carlson, right? Like if you just add the tiny step of attributing the cultural decay of crumble cookie to the rabid left this would magically become a tucker carlson piece.
Its uncanny. It has to be on purpose.
Levi's videos are basically an adult version of that kid in school who would call you a baby and make you feel bad for liking something they deemed to be uncool.
His personal attacks against people for the crime of being more excited than he feels they should be mean I think he can get in the bin. Maybe there's a point to be made about the glorification of acquiring stuff, but I get frustrated when people don't let other people enjoy things.
22:00-23:00 your rant about the cookies, idk why i was straight cackling the whole time. hilarious content, thank you for the bonus video
I think there's definitely room for social critique of consumerism connected to Labubu and Crumbl, but focusing down and talking about the companies like they are uniquley devilish and the consumers are crazed hedonists is drastically overstating any valid claims that could be made. The vibe of this reminds me a bit of your bonus video on anti Disney adult content. It seems like the video is just as guilty as any Labubu-buyer might be as far as hopping on trends, just in the negative rage-bait sense. There's not a lot of depth to the criticism, just tapping into raw emotional response that people can easily buy into because they find buying Labubu's a bit cringe
Haven’t even seen it yet but if it’s supposed to be purest hater I’m calling it
lol thank you
