Character restrictions
Given potential future implementation with putting user configured restrictions on characters, what options do you agree with below? (Multi-choice OK.)
Allow editing and use
No restrictions (as it is for all characters currently).
Restrict editing but allow use
Character would be publicly uploaded and displayed, but you wouldn't be allowed to download and edit them (make derivatives), unless author has given you specific rights to use them (through a system on the site). Others would still be able to use your character in interactions though without requiring permission.
Restrict editing and use
Character would be publicly uploaded and displayed, but you wouldn't be allowed to download and edit them (make derivatives), unless author has given you specific rights to use them (through a system on the site). Furthermore, you would only be able to use the character if you had acquired the required privileges.
People could still experiencing your character in any interactions made by you (or anyone else with the required privileges).
Unlisted private character
Character is not publicly visible, and cannot be edited or used in interactions, unless author has given you specific rights to use them (through a system on the site).

If this is implemented, please also implement the option of not showing characters with this category in the cloud.
I prefer it to be as it is now, especially if I make derivative edits or intersex versions of male or female characters, but that I keep private for myself and my interactions
No restrictions, of course. Everybody always will want edit the characters genitalia for his personal taste. I suggest add the option of blacklist tags.
Way I see it, unless you plan having all our creations forcibly uploaded to the cloud, it shouldn't be much of an issue. The only one that should really matter is restricting editing of uploaded characters. However, that should also be an optional flag. When uploading, there's perhaps a checkbox "would you like to allow other players to make their own changes to this character?" Maybe I spent a lot of time and effort on this particular character and I'd rather not have people messing around with it, but these other six models I made aren't special to me, so I don't care if people make their own changes.
Basically, I don't care, creativity should be allowed to unfold freely! And if someone feels inspired by it and adds something missing or is simply so enthusiastic about the basic idea that they follow the path I have started to the end, then I have achieved my silent goal. And yet there are real individual cases that are sacred to me, so to speak. I like to show them here to inspire others about what is possible, but I don't have to force them to experience them as a horizontal bust miracle. I also like to make child figures for family scenes, I trust that the community knows what it's doing, but maybe a, LOOK YES, and TOUCH, only with permission rule wouldn't be bad here.
I think the community forums, servers, etc., are the result of the efforts of many creators (of course, the developers are also working hard). In other words, it is the selfless dedication of the creators, unconditional, unpaid sharing to all users to use, edit, and even learn, create, etc. How to make, create, edit, and then skillfully use the software program like this creator. As a result, there's a new great creator sharing even better content. I would feel sad if users were only allowed to watch, not download or edit. Therefore, my personal recommendation, if technical conditions allow, I prefer: users can download and edit models uploaded by others without restriction, but can not upload models that have been edited. In this way, perhaps the original author's originality or copyright is protected in some way? (Maybe that's not the right idea.)
As a OC creator let me throw this point of view in the ring: Let's say I create a character, someone modifies it and turns it into a derivative. Now they create an animation with that character and claims that it's their character. Even though I did e.g. 90% of the work and the character comes from my mind and creativity I can't do anything against this claim. And please don't come with the argument "then don't upload it to the cloud in the first place". You need to upload to the cloud in order to bring a character to the interaction system. If I take down one of my OC's, chances are, someone saved it locally anyway and will re-upload it. If that would happen I actually loose the entire character claim as my version is not even present in the cloud any more. I would at least go for a certain restriction like the mentioned private mode or the edit ban.
I totally understand your point of view. A clear example, I have several modifications of other ocs (in your case I have Mai-lin, I made her a little bigger and touched her body and breasts a little) because I really like the character but some things may not be. I also made variants changing the color. There are people like me who do not know how to model but can defend themselves with the editing plugins that come by default and I am the first to thank those who know how to model by leaving us textures and 3D parts so that we can use them at our convenience and be able to create from There, something "new". However, it would be good if they had a signature or some mention of use for the author. At least if I make some animation and use some oc from another modified creator I will mention it in the description (you could put a link to his name to enter the gallery in the future)
This could be the best way in my opinion: You are allowed to download and edit a character, but unless given permission (you could set this when uploading) you can not upload somebody else's character that you edited.
I think adding rights management does little more than add more overhead for yourselves while simultaneously opening the community up to pointless drama.
One important thing on being able to edit characters is that you learn how they are made. Editing your favorite OC that you downloaded is the first step in learning the editor, and trying your own thing.
personally I wouldn't gatekeep creativity
personally I think that is unlikely, if someone likes a character with big boobs they might as well pick a different OC at that point
I'd prefer the way it currently is, but I'd be fine with the option to edit without being able to upload derivatives. Too many great characters have little issues or mistakes, like forgetting to texture certain parts or not making any user expressions. It would be a shame to not be able to fix those for personal use, but I'm not against other creators having options I suppose.
