Tau Day is canceled; it's Rights and Salads up in here
Hey everyone,
Two months ago the video I was working on for Tau day was a fun one.
One month ago that video got scrapped, and I did several drafts of a very different video. A story for another time, maybe.
One week ago the plan changed again. So this is the video that happened.
I suspended payments for June and July, as I understand funding this kind of thing may put some of you in an awkward position. I won't promise to not make videos like this in the future, so if this is not your jam now might be a good time to unsubscribe. I know there's many reasons people might not be able to publicly support something like this, so please know that while we'll be sad to see you go, there's no hard feelings, so if that's you: thanks for being around and we wish you the best!
For everyone else, I don't know a lot of things, but I do have a lot of feelings. For now this video is all I have to say about any of it.

Late to the party (as always) with two thoughts and a request: That video was good art. Thought provoking, insightful, relevant ... everything I came here for. It's September ... I hope you're going to re-enable payments. We're joining Manuel above in a raised level of membership for a bit to make up some of this gap. Recipe? I couldn't see what went in after the turmeric, and it was looking super tasty.
Well I if you suspend payments we will just have to upgrade to higher tiers for the next couple of months to make up for it. Thank you for your great work (and not just because I agree with its message, the thank you would also apply otherwise)!
I'm sticking around. I support your Patreon because I want to support an artist's ability to make the art things that they think are the right art things to make, not to vote on whether I like or agree with a given art thing. The world needs artists and you're an artist I think the world needs. Thank you for (all of) what you do!
Not in love with chicken salad, definitely in love with protecting human rights 💜
America forces 12 year old rape victims by law, to carry out pregnancies. At that age the human body is not matured enough for pregnancy and giving birth. A common collateral damage of this is lifelong incontinence! It is this bestiality that shows to me what America really is! It fits with the people who put children into cages, who pray to guns and love them more than their children! And it is the America in which in the State of Alabama church officials said in a live interview about the Roy Moore scandal, that they prefer a paedophile against a democrat! The bible warns repeatedly about false prophets. It is a good idea for Americans who claim to be christians to reflect on this very carefully. Where I live giving birth entails responsibility for the wellbeing of that child that means above all giving love! If that is not possible it is considered an act of responsibility to consider among other options an abortion. We are of the opinion that an abortion is the response to a difficult choice among worse options that cause pain for the woman her partner and the medical staff. They deserve our kindness, our listening and thoughtfulness. What they don't deserve is being patronised, bullied, terrorised or even being harmed! Incidentally: We also don't think that children should have to undergo shooter drills in schools or even nurseries! Such places would be considered unworthy for our children! Given the hostility and outright bestiality children have to endure in America one can be excused to wonder why someone would want to subject a child to such a ...hell-hole...
Well said.
From the other side of the Atlantic we can only watch in horror at what's going on in the US... I am sorry you're having to live through this and I support you fully. It is weird to hear you say people might be put in an awkward position by supporting your very calm, moderate and reasoned video. I think this is something we on the outside just cannot wholly grasp. Here, what you say would be entirely uncontroversial, and it is difficult from the outside to understand how extreme are the positions now considered "normal". Sorry again this is happening, please stay safe <3
Thank you Ian. One of the sensitivities here is that some states are pursuing prosecuting abortion as murder, including prosecuting those who help someone else obtain an abortion. It is not yet clear how far states will go, but there may be patrons in those states who are not in a position to publicly support a video that links to abortion resources, whether or not they support the idea.
Beautiful. Ik it's not the main thing, but thank you also for using gender inclusive language. Also, we can call forced birth what it is- rape.
Calling something something else isn't going to help. Banning abortion is not rape. It's a terrible thing to do, but it isn't rape. It might be as bad as rape, I wouldn't say that it is but I'll accept that you do, but that still does not mean that it IS rape.
Well said. And now I’m hungry.
Yo, you are making an excellent, thoughtful, informed statement. Thank you for acknowledging that others may have a different views. I agree...and I think that your analysis helps contribte to less froth and more discussion...very nice. Thanks!
I like your content and I trust you and your decision making processes for making videos. I will miss tau day this year, but I'm glad not to be baking pies in this weather.
Thanks for the well-formed discourse. I hope many people are here to appreciate your ability to expound difficult topics clearly.
I'd crowd-fund this video. 💜 (I could take or leave the salad, but am totally here for the voice-over!)
