2 Big Quick Updates: Pausing Campaign, Channel Changes

Hello good humans!

I'm pausing the billing on this Patreon; you will not be charged in January 2020! 🎉🎉🎉

This is because things are going well for me and I've decided to dig deeper into some of the research and collaborations I've got going on. I'll let you know a little more about that once things are more clear to me as well. I'm going to keep payments paused for the foreseeable future, we'll see how things go!

The last two years threw some major curveballs at me, and thanks to all of your support I am making it to the next decade with all the things going well and not disaster explosions all over my life! I haven't posted much recently because I made the very good choice to trade a bit of time and stress for sanity and not feel too bad about it. There's light at the end of the decade.

A lot of the in-progress work y'all have supported is still in progress, and though it may take a little longer I hope you'll see the fruits of your support in the future without any further investment needed. The Vi Hart stock is strong and much more stable than it was!

💪🐌

The other update is that, due to some YouTube changes and COPPA compliance things, I've set my main channel as "for kids". For most channels this would mean no more targeted ads and less revenue, but we already don't have ads! Easy choice.

There also will no longer be some other features like notifications and comments, but if you're here on Patreon then you'll be notified through this page whenever I post a video. And our comment section here on Patreon is so much better than YouTube's anyway!

I hope to write a more in-depth year and decade in review, and more updates, at some point. But for now I am going to take some days off for the holidays.

I love you all,

Vi

Dear Vi Hart, do whatever you need to do. I want you to be happy and comfortable, and I hope for future videos, but only when you want to make them.

You are important to all of us now.

I meant that in the future, you will be important.

Vi, Please. ( Notice the period as punctuation) - start new sentence - "You are good" , and to be honest you are messing up my future. In a 100 years, my grand, grand, grand, grand, I think 4 generatiions is good, That is if I had children, that is up for debate. Anyways, I have followed your brilliance. End of story. If you lose your mind I say Yeah go for it. YOU are just brilliant, I will and I do appreciate and find inspiration in you as a person.

Setting your channel as "for kids" affects recommendation from your video and for your video as well. That could lead to less discoverability. And that's one of the best aspects of YouTube.

i don't really know the mechanics of turning a patreon on and off, and how much that affects subscriber counts, whether it will be there when you get back, so I'll assume you know best, but I just wanted you to know that I would continue to support you on the assumption that you are investing creative energy into the world because you have less "life stuff", not because of your number of updates. "how much creativity did you get done today!?" :)

personally, i think you should make hay while the sun shines on you, and let those of us who are your patrons in order to fund _whatever comes along in your life, and your ability to make art_, continue to do so. It shouldn't require a drumbeat of updates or content creation, and if your patreon count declines, the ones that remain will be tuned to the level of output that you are providing.
