Mini-Etude in D
So for the past three days I've been working on trying to make a fun little music theory video... but it turns out the syncing process is not as automatic as I thought. So that might have to wait, possibly forever.
But I did decide to post on my second channel just the short piece I wrote for y'all to fit within a lens clip the other day.
Here's the sheet music if you want: http://vihart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mini-etude-in-d-vihart.jpg

It is a joy to find a sweet little musical twiddle in my inbox in the morning, and then to be able to walk to the piano and play it. Thanks!
OK that was really quite beautiful. I'm definitely thinking of learning it! Do you have other original music out there?
I don't think I've posted sheet music before. I'd like to do more music though!
A little research suggests there are more etudes in D than in E, and yet there are twice as many E's than D's in ETUDE. A deep mystery.
Even more curiously, there's a reason: e, a very good vowel, won 5th place in the letter competition, which is not bad if only major keys started with A. But the natural major key is C, so, by fifths D is only two steps away and so only two sharps to E's 4.
Short and sweet, as they say. I guess you call it an etude because of the 4 against 3!
Exactly!
Thank you again. My turn for a scotch neat.
OK, now I am hammered. So what occasioned me to ask what work it was was that, reconstructing, the unbearably wonderful fluidity of your play ejected me from the experience and made me wonder, damn, does everybody play that piece that way? I had checked my credit card balance and was headed for iTunes to buy every version. And how often do we get to use the word was twice in a row? Where was I?
Etude, Brute?
