Deleted Scenes and Making Of Metachirality!

Hello good humans!

I gotta make this quick since the video already finished uploading and it's after 6pm:

1. Deleted scenes and making of video is up! I thought it'd be an easy 2 day project but it took 3 and was a little more difficult than I thought. Creating the deleted scenes and collecting the lens clips took about as long as I thought (even including the hour of fighting with Android File Transfer), but then I went back and forth a few times on how to frame those two chunks. I ended up scrapping my written narrated "how I make a video" frame thing, and replaced it with a more informal unscripted ramble which works better than what I had. Not sure I'd do a video like this again, but hopefully its fun for some folks :D

2. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is our 3rd episode of 👯VIM Live, at 5pm pacific again. This week's main topic is going to be about beauty standards, plus reporting back on the work-from-home challenges we gave each other this week. And whatever else we decide to talk about.

3. Yaaaaay I get to get back to working on the Emmy Noether video now!

Ok thanks for being here, and welcome to the new folks who pledged for the first time this month! Those should go through tomorrow, the 1st!

Bye!

Vi

I love this behind the scenes! It feels more personal and casual, which is a delightful change from your regular polished videos!

Thank you! I wasn't sure about it!

I love that you actually took a photograph of your foot instead of using a stock image- shows dedication!

I've found that if you care about whether the license actually is free or not, and want just the right thing or angle, it's often faster to do it yourself than spend hours searching the interwebs and double-checking sources! At least for things easy to replicate yourself :)

I would just like to echo that this was almost as awesome as the final product, despite it feeling rambly and such. I really wish the plant application had made it into the final video because I love showing my students when things apply to other things even though they assume they're justified in forgetting all previously mentioned things. Keep up the awesomeness! :-)

:D Best thing is its totally related to previous video series which is pretty student-able: https://youtu.be/ahXIMUkSXX0

All of things are (butt) just those things. Notice, I got a but joke it there. I can't say anymore than what is apparent at this time. No one person can. Just continue in your fun.

Astonishing hearing how much effort you put into every little detail. I am glad you are on Patreon now reaping some modest reward for that.

Amazing difference in your voice when explaining the making of a video vs when making a video, except at the end when you are explaining your use of voice and you slip back into using it. I also suspect a different mic is in play. This from one in your user category. from memory, "too dumb to understand anything but they like my voice performance".

"Some folks enjoy zoning out and letting the cadence of my voice wash over them" may be the quote you're looking for :) But yes, that's exactly one of the reasons I decided to cut the scripted explanation that used my usual mic setup in favor of an unscripted explanation using the laptop mic in an acoustically bad room. I wanted those parts to be in contrast with the deleted scenes, which are more in my usual style, to keep the difference clear.

Very much enjoyed this, especially as the lens things haven't been working for me. Thankyou for showing us how it works.

I can't tell which would make a better God, foot plant or pastakitty.

pastakitty is more of an angel, I think.
