New Studio

Thanks to your support, full time Vi Hart stuff is happening! And that means I need a studio to work in.

Step one: get the work surfaces in. Very excited to have separate dedicated work surfaces for computer stuff and filming stuff and other stuff, complete with my shiny new table I just inherited from M Eifler's studio (thanks M!).

I've always wanted to have a dedicated filming setup that I don't have to set up and tear down every filming session, and now it's finally happening!

Right now it's a little dreary in there, but I'll keep you updated as it starts to shape up.

(Firstly, I will like to start with where Cecll Rowe left, I don't know you personally and you are not paying me to advertise for you. I only hope it does not come across as being creepy. I realize, it is indeed very long. But, it is not made long to solicit a reply or anything. I just got in the feels.) It is nice to see your new studio and at first, it all seemed wondrous as I was trying to figure out what was happening. But, I was also struck "so now what!Vihart will be working for us?" . I keep remembering your video:They became what they beheld . And I don't want we patrons,in future, start to post our demands and you to fulfill each one of them, just because we are now "members"!!! "Patreon allows creators like you to get paid by running a membership business for your fans" I came across this line and found it disturbing! The thing I love about you is you never tried to "sell" or dress-up your content for your audience like most YouTubers do(I am not saying doing that would be really bad but it kills something in the video and in the creator). Your videos were never about “us”-if we liked it or if we didn’t! Your videos had a soul of its own, unfolding, blossoming and ,at times, abruptly ending. It was never about consuming knowledge, feeling gratified and signing off. In fact, I never understood much of the technical mathy stuff but despite that, I just loved it. Like the music of an unfinished conversation that stays in your heart, that now you have to continue yourself. However, making videos for patrons must be very different from making videos freely on YouTube. The very thought that now the videos may be about “us” , is depressing. I would never want the content to lose its honesty, melody, spontaneity, magic. Your content should only come from your heart, and be liberated in the most ecstatically-tragic way it can be. It should not come from what I want. I’d want to feel surprised and lost in wonder and feel joy and all that but it doesn’t, shouldn’t, must not be about “me”. In your FAQ’s on vihart.com “You should make a video about…” And you said “Nope! You should make that video!”. I keep remembering that.

I appreciate your trust and belief! I think, given how people have jumped to support this whole thing, it's going to work out without making too many compromises.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"

The same curtain that just a few days ago, when the room was empty, was the backdrop for Spiders Forever :D (And there were plenty of spiders behind the curtain. Now the room has been vacuumed and the spiders have scooted off to safer homes)

As someone whose elementary-school aged daughters enjoy your work, this is wonderful to see. I look forward to seeing what you can now create.

"Eifler" and "office" and "shape up" are words with unparalleled creative potential. :)
