5 Piano Pieces and 36 Art Books
A feature-length film setting three decades of art books to a set of piano and vocal improvisations.
Part I: 30 Years (0:00:00)
Part II: Half an Evening (0:26:21)
Part III: Untitled (0:35:22)
Part IV: The Lonely Mountain (1:00:12)
Part V: Ending (1:19:35)
(contains sporadic artistic nudity via figure drawings)
I envisioned my first concept for this video a full decade ago. Those of you paying close attention back then might recognize pieces of it. Some of you paid for some of the supplies (thank you!).
The video didn’t come together back when I was putting the most work into it, and every year since then it has shown up on my annual list of potential projects, with the vision shifting each year.
This final iteration seems so simple and obvious in retrospect, just like every other project I’ve found simple and obvious only after years.
Beyond that I’ll let it speak for itself for now. I like to think it can at least make good background music for while you’re doing chores around the house.
General Patreon Update for 2026
I’m already working on more projects, and this year I expect Patreon to be my only source of income, so expect this page to become more active again! I’m expecting to do more artsy stuff and less mathy stuff, which I know isn’t in everyone’s budget to support, and also it’s been a while and things change, so as always don’t hesitate to change your subscription if you gotta/wanna.
You’ll only fund this video if you’re still a paying member on Feb 1, because I’m still grandfathered into the first-of-the-month billing option (and you can be too! As long as you’re subscribed before Nov 1st 2026 when Apple’s billing mandate goes into effect. Also, if you use Apple products, do your Patreon subscriptions via the web instead of the Apple store to avoid Apple’s imposed 30%).
If you’re newer around here, hello and welcome! I have been inactive for a while so be advised that a lot of stuff on this Patreon (including the description and tiers) is out of date. Rather than me being behind on things, let’s think of it as a fun exciting mystery for the future.
Finally: hello! I ran out of stamina for brain thinking word thoughts, but if you say “hi” I will say “hi”

Vi

Hi! I meant to share an update on the aperiodic turtle blanket I made. It successfully raised money for a charity! https://desertbus.org/2025/prize/QKHPVTKJSQKW has photos
Holes moles that is epic. Yes I like this aperiodic turtle content update
A timely and much-needed reminder that the world contains people like Vi Hart (which is non-negotiable as far as I’m concerned). Whoop!

Hi!
Hi!
Hi! I was wondering if you had heard of the naming of asteroid (813826) Vihart? I sent you an email about that in December, but I'm not sure if you saw that. I hope you like it! Best, Daniel B
Yes! I thought I replied to that, maybe I'm in your spam folder. I think it's very cool to be an asteroid :D
So glad to hear from you and glad to hear that you're still exercising your creative muscles. Glad to continue to support you in 2026. Supporting art is more important than ever these days.
