Weekly Report 06 - No More Secrets | Episode 3
Hi there guys,
The second episode of the No More Secrets game, is already history. Most of you played the second episode, and even if it had a few bugs, most of the review I received about the second episode were good. So I really want to thank you all for your sweet words.
Last week I started the work on the "After Party" episode. I managed to finish the story, I prepared the events and stuff like that, this week I'll start doing the conversations for each event I prepared and also I'll start working on the renders.
What's with the three ladies in the image above?
Well it seems that Brian will need a favor from a girl which he used to know. I won't go too much in her history, because I don't want to spoil the fun, however I am going to open a poll for the Candy King patrons.
I also got some bad/good news. I'm not sure which.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed with the money, but I understand and I think it's a problem with my game, so I need to make it better, however I may have to do some major changes in the game, because the 3D part is very costly and I'm not sure I can afford to continue any further. The main reason is this : I buy every asset from Daz3d to use in my renders, this is fine, It was pretty expensive but I already bought them, but the major problem is that for the 3D part I also need to buy the interactive licence, which is 30$-50$/asset.
Here is some small calculations:
(Each character will need two more sets of clothes for this episode, if the interactive licence for the asset is only 30$, 30$*9Characters*2sets of clothes = 540$, however some assets are way expensive and also I need to buy some more assets for a few more locations)
I already spent a huge amount of money to reach this second episode, however only the interactive licence for the third episode is easily above 500$. So here comes the bad/good news.
I know that some of you complained about the 3d part, "it's too laggy" or "to slow", "it's buggy as hell" and so on, so I'm thinking to change my game to a 2d like game.
You can see how my game could look like below or on this link
The things I like with this kind of approach are :
Everyone can play my game even if they use a potato
For me it's less expensive to develop this kind of game
The money I save from getting rid of the 3d part, I can invest in some nice assets, like new characters, new clothes, new rooms, maybe some music in the future or even let me pay someone to help me.
You can get the events way faster than before
However the things I don't like are
There will be no more front-flips when changing, no more gangnam style dance
It may take me a while to get used to the new approach and change everything to 2D
I will loose this unique feel that some of you enjoyed, which is really sad.
Anyway guys, I'm not sure yet about the changes, but I just wanted to let you know, how my game is evolving.
Kind regards,
Jason

Hi RoyalCandy, I really enjoyed your game so far. And have to say I like the change. Of course I also will miss the front-flip, and with the loss of walking around some of the "adventure" aspect disappear. Which I enjoy. I am sorry to say this but, I felt the movement was too clunky. But your renders are very good, and I have enjoyed your game immensely. Keep on trucking. :D
i say get rid of 3d if too costly. i liked it but i ain't going cry over it being gone. more than happy with enough with 2d. also coleman + parson are hot :D
