Weekly Report 242 - No More Money
Hi guys,
PROGRESS STATUS
This past week I have started to work on the next episode. This episode will be mainly about Tris and Bea, but Charlotte will also have a bit of screen time giving how the last episode ended. Other than that the main story will continue even more, so we will get to see Katrina and Darlene as well.
Looking over the plan for this episode it should not be as big as the last episode, but until I have the whole episode written I won't know for sure, because sometimes I get carried away. However I'll do my best not to turn this into another huge episode. In February I've made a poll about the time between updates and even though most of you were okay with how things go there were a lot of you who said that the time between updates is a bit annoying, so for that I'll try to keep the updates smaller so I can make release episodes more often.
NOT SO NICE STATUS
Since this is the first weekly report of the new episode I want to make some things clear.
I used to love working on these games. When I started RoyalCandy I would come home after 6-8 hours of work and would stay until very late to work on these games. For the first time ever I hated this. In February and March I've been working 12-14 hours every day from Monday to Friday and the last week before the release because of some errors I even worked 16-18 hours a day to be able to release the episode, because people where getting impatient and they were right to be. I gave a few deadlines that I couldn't keep. That's not very professional of me and so is this part of the post, but this is me.
That's why from now on I will only work 8-10 hours every day and I won't give any deadlines. You'll know when the next episode is ready. I care too much about this game to ruin it now by rushing it, but I care about my health even more.
So if you want to support me during the development I appreciate it, but if you only want the game, I suggest you only subscribe when the next episode is available or you can get it from Steam once a season is finished. On patreon I'm not selling the game. You choose to support me during the development. One episode is not worth 40$, 20$ or even 5$. In my opinion the whole season is worth around 10$, but you supporting me during the development helps me work on this game and for that I'm grateful.
Another thing. Until now I treated everybody with the same respect, no matter if they are a supporter or not. I tried to answer all messages without caring if it's on patreon, discord or any other website where people get pirated games, but because of some people I will no longer answer messages/comments from persons who never supported this page. This way I can focus more on the game and the community who trusts me to make a game they enjoy, but the priority is still making the game, so if sometimes it takes me a few days to answer your message/comment I'm sorry, I'm working on the game.
That being said I hope you all have an amazing weekend and I'm really sorry for making this post so long.
Bests,
Jason

Probably going to get ignored and/or booted for this but what the hell... @RoyalCandy : I fully appreciate your health (both physical and mental) but I would ask that you please give updates on Steam and any other locations where your game is sold. (Note: Sold, not pirated etc). Responding to every comment or any comment at all is not required or requested but even a monthly update (not even a weekly one) would be appreciated. Heck a copy/paste of the updates you give here would be great even. I fully and truly thought this game was completely dead and it is a sentiment shared by quite a few on Steam since your last comment there gave a March release with nothing further added.
when will see lisa and her friend again hopefully next episode.
Jason please, ignore those who try to rush things. Your work is great, and my guess is that the first bunch of episodes are the easiest ones to produce therefore it took less time to make them. Either way, it's a bit selfish to ask you to rush it giving the amount of time you're putting in it. Bottomline is: it's more important that the episode is organic and interesting + well designed, than having everything rushed because some people can't just wait. Take it as a sign that people actually enjoy this game, but don't let them take the wheel. Keep it up!
I agree 100 damn percent
I'm invested in the story, it takes however long it takes, I will blithely support you monthly until it's done.
I love your games but you should focus on your mental health you are one of the best devs who keep improving renders and the story the update will be ready when it's ready
Your health is the foundation on which you build the rest of your life. It makes total sense to work to manage your health and make adjustments when you find that something (process/procedure etc.) is not working. Shorter days could actually lead to a better product - more creativity, better focus, and a return to the satisfaction you originally felt for this creation. GL and thanks for the update!
Maaan look at this gathering of si... fans... its heartwarming:))
Health is the most important Boss! Without you, there would be no great game like this. True supporters would support you no matter the circumstances. Keep up the good work! 🫡
Thank you. Keep doing you - the game is awesome and I am more than happy to support you and the game. Your updates come more frequent than a number of developers I support. Again thank you. Love your games.
Please change Dinesh hairstyle give her new look please 🥺
A healthy attitude. Never lose the passion for game development! Keep up the amazing work and take care of yourself, as well!
Thanks, Jason. Well said.
Nice! I look forward to the next EP! See, I don't understand people who pledge to AVN's Patreon in general. You're here to support the Devs and the game's development. It's not like the Devs are forcing you to join. You've read and knew what or why you're pledging. So why are you complaining and being rude/impatient? Patrons should already be used to AVNs and their development cycle by now. Also, you can always just lower your pledge to the lowest tier, then raise it after the newest update comes out 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. Don't worry, Jason. There are lots of patrons, including me, who support you willingly. You do you. You'll always have our support.
take all the time u need
Glad to hear that you are rebalancing your life. This is good for your physical and mental well being and for the project itself. Take time to experience life and seek it's enrichment it can only benefit your work.
Good on you man. Thank you for prioritizing product quality and personal health over quantity. The people who were telling you to rush clearly don’t know how difficult it is to make games like this, especially considering the fact that you’re a one man dev team with a separate job from it. The updates will arrive when they are ready to arrive. If you ask me, anyone who doesn’t like that needs to go find someone else to annoy. 👏
I no longer have the job. I was able to quit the job because of the amazing support.
Boundaries are good. The only people who hate them are the ones who cross 'em.
Extremely well said sir, your efforts are appreciated with this amazing game and your "new" outlook on the game, its development, and more importantly your health and time considerations are very valid. From one small supporter thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts and concerns regarding multiple topics. Agree with every single thing you stated and only wish you the best.
:)))
All good king! You worry about you. I'll be here when the next one is good and ready. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these episodes, they have been very enjoyable.
