Thanks for waiting on this one. It got away from me a little. It started as "let's add Reze and a fight system" and somewhere along the way I rebuilt the night rounds from scratch, added a cooking minigame, and discovered that putting a girl to work was somehow lowering your income. That last one had been in the game for a while. Nobody tell me how long.

So, the short version of what 1.6 actually is:

Reze is here, and she has the deepest interrogation in the game. She has been running a sweet cafe-girl act her whole life and she is still running it on you. It just keeps slipping.

The Pit turns the arena into an actual place you walk into instead of a menu you click. Two challengers, Mai and 2B, and a fight system where you equip four moves and then watch it play out. You do not mash anything, but you do need to click something. You plan, and then you find out if the plan was good.

Night Rounds got rebuilt. You walk the wing cell by cell with a torch now and search things yourself.

One More Plate, a cooking shift, because the girl working the kitchen occasionally asks for help and it felt rude to say no. Eight tickets, two burners. Things can burn now. They warn you first.

And she can just refuse to work. Walks off her station, comes to your office, offers you something else instead of her shift. Depends how settled she is.

CELLBLOCK v1.6 - "The Pit"

REZE

• NEW Reze joins the block. She ran a sweet cafe-girl act her whole life to get close to people, and she is still running it on you. The difference is it keeps slipping.

• NEW Her ladder runs a full 10 tiers, the same depth as Jinx. By the end she is out of moves and just means it.

• NEW Catch her in the act on your rounds and you get the one scene she was not performing for anybody.

THE PIT

• NEW THE PIT. The arena is a place now. The challengers stand around the ring and you walk up to the one you want.

• NEW Two challengers to beat: Mai and 2B. Mai is fast and hits hard but she is fragile. 2B reads you, blocks everything, and does not tire.

• NEW Beating them once does not hand you everything. Each win climbs their ladder, and every rung unlocks a new scene.

• NEW They get tougher every rematch, so the deeper stuff has to be earned.

• NEW Jinx levels up as she wins, so she keeps pace with them.

• NEW SCOUT any challenger before you commit. Side by side stats, scaled to the exact fight you would be taking, and an honest read on whether you can take her.

• NEW Somebody runs the pit. You never see him. He leaves notes.

• NEW Fights are booked for the next night, so there is a shift in between to get ready. Turn him down and he keeps count.

THE FIGHTING SYSTEM

• NEW THE UNDERGROUND ARENA. A hidden fight system, in early preview. Take your fighter down into the pit and go to war with rival wardens for coin and reputation.

• NEW PUNCH CLUB-STYLE FIGHTS. You do not mash buttons. You equip four moves (punch, kick, block, dodge, rest), read the opponent, and watch the whole fight play out automatically.

• NEW INITIATIVE BURSTS. The faster fighter chains more actions before control passes. Build for speed and you throw combos while she is still winding up.

• NEW THREE ROUNDS, LIVE PLANNING. Between each round you keep or swap your whole loadout. Health and stamina carry over, so a bad plan follows you into the next round.

• NEW BUILD IT YOURSELF. The Underground Arena is now a room you can construct in your facility. House Jinx, your fighter, and the door to the pit opens.

• NEW SPOILS OF WAR. Win and you take coin, warden reputation, and one scene with the girl you just beat. Read the note inside for the honest truth on where this is headed.

THE BACKROOM

• NEW THE BACKROOM. Behind the pit, Jinx trains. Every level she earns is a point, and you decide where it goes.

• NEW Four tracks: Conditioning, Power, Footwork, Read. Build a bruiser, build a technician, no two runs have to look the same.

• NEW TECHNIQUES. Six new moves she can learn: Double Jab, Body Blow, Spinning Back Kick, Adrenaline Rush, Dirty Feint, Last Laugh.

• NEW You do not buy a technique, you drill it. Two minigames: repeat the combo she throws, or catch the timing window before it closes.

• NEW Mai and 2B fight with signature moves of their own. Scout them first and you will see exactly what is coming.

• NEW Last Laugh burns hotter the closer you are to going down, and now the move itself shows you when it has woken up.

NIGHT ROUNDS, REBUILT

• NEW NIGHT ROUNDS REBUILT. You walk the wing cell by cell now, aiming a torch, instead of clicking through a list.

• NEW Search each cell yourself: the bunk, her belongings, the door notice. Every first check costs a minute, and so does every step between cells.

• NEW The shift ends in a graded report. Accuracy, what you found, what you missed, and every point of heat it cost you.

• NEW Each cell is HERS. Her own art, and whatever theme you bought and applied to it, exactly as it looks in the facility.

• NEW Hold the torch near a side of the cell and the camera walks that way, so you can sweep the whole room by hand.

• FIX Fixed the top grade being impossible. The time allowance never counted the walking, so a flawless shift still ran into overtime.

• FIX Fixed one inmate being drawn as the occupant of every unnamed cell on the wing.

• FIX Fixed inmates on a work shift disappearing from the night round. She still sleeps in her cell, so she is still on your route.

• FIX Fixed making a call on a cell locking you out of looking at the rest of it. Reading is free, always.

• FIX Fixed a logged cell leaving you with nowhere to go. The next cell is now right where you made the call.

• TWEAK Cut the empty filler cells. Every stop on the round is a real inmate now, so a full wing is a shorter walk, not a longer one.

SHE WALKS OFF THE JOB

• NEW SHE WALKS OFF THE JOB. A girl on the clock can decide she is not working today. She leaves her station, comes to you, and offers you something else instead of her shift. The less settled she is, the more often it happens.

• NEW What she puts on the table when she walks off is capped by how far she has already gone with you, and you can still push her for more. Turning her down is free, but she takes it personally.

ONE MORE PLATE

• NEW ONE MORE PLATE. The girl working the kitchen sometimes asks you to cover the pass with her. Say yes and you cook the wing's dinner yourself: eight tickets, two burners.

• NEW How the service goes becomes that night's kitchen income. A flawless run pays several times what a sloppy one does.

• NEW Leave a pan on the heat and it catches, send the wrong topping and the plate comes back, ignore a ticket and the table gives up. All three warn you first, and nothing burns while you are busy on the other pan.

• NEW Her ask shows up in two places: an amber badge on the kitchen itself, where she is standing, and on her own cell door. Either one lets you take the pass, so you cannot walk past it.

ROOMS, FILES AND FIXES

• NEW CELL THEMES. Buy a look with BUDGET and apply it to any cell, as many times as you like.

• NEW FIGHT NIGHT. Hazard tape across the HUD when a booked bout is waiting, so you never miss the night you paid for.

• NEW FILES redesigned. She stands in her own dossier now, breathing, name set huge behind her, instead of a flat card and a stack of identical boxes.

• TWEAK FILES lists the newest inmate first, so a new arrival is at the top instead of buried at the bottom.

• FIX Fixed putting a girl to work LOWERING your income. Her cell still pays, and the job now adds a wage on top, so sending her out is always a raise.

• FIX Fixed a girl you transferred off the wing still standing in her work room and still earning.

• FIX Fixed pop-ups and panels rendering partially or not at all on some devices. This one was ugly and it is gone.

• FIX Fixed being blamed for an understocked cafeteria or a messy yard when you had not built either room.

• FIX Fixed still having to clean the yard or restock the cafeteria while a girl was working that exact room.

• FIX Fixed having to walk out of the pit and back in through the facility just to start the fight you booked.

• FIX Fixed fighters retiring for good once their ladder was finished. Rematch anyone: coin and XP still pay, there is just no new scene.

• FIX Fixed level-up points going missing when you opened the pit or the backroom.

• FIX Fixed some inmates asking for things in raw code instead of their own words.

• TWEAK Every point of a stat now changes something. Agility used to do nothing for three points and then decide the whole fight on the fourth.

• TWEAK Fights no longer end in the first round. The corner, the round-two loadout swap and your second wind all matter now.

• TWEAK Reordered the challengers so the boss is actually the hardest fight. 2B hits harder, Mai is the mid-rung she was meant to be.
