Is Communism the same as Socialism?
In Marxist ideology, human civilization evolves through certain phases, driven by struggle, until it reaches its final form—Communism. That's essentially this utopian society where there are now structures or hierarchies. What comes before that is Socialism, where the means of production are controlled, in reality, by the State, instead of the capitalists. This is why China says it practices Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.
