River-Lucy Thomas Christmas Concert 15 12 2025

Lucy, I listen to your music all the time. I listened to this while in Toronto for work. I have had to spend a lot of time here, while my wife of more than 50 years is home in Ohio. Before writing this, I had to call her just to make sure she knows I am thinking of her and to let her know how much i Love her. The feelings you put into your songs make people think of those close to us and I am sure there are many others who are touched by your music in such a positive way. I just think it is important for you to know the beautiful things that come from the music that you share.

Wow this was so much better than the Joni Mitchell version. For you Lucy, who loves Christmas, to sing a song with this much emotion of sadness is incredible. This was the first time I ever heard this song, and it is how I feel at Christmas. I used to love Christmas and the joy it would bring. But on December 19, 2017 I lost my wife to a long bout to Cancer and Christmas now brings sadness. I don’t want you to feel sorry for me, instead I want to thank you for singing this song with such heartfelt emotion. Nobody, just nobody can do it better.

After watching this video I felt compelled to seek out the original Joni Mitchell version. In testimony to the quality of the song both versions were beautiful. I hate to do comparisons but I was captivated by the passion you put into your performance. The very subdued “Thank You” at the end tells me you were affected also. I love all of your performances, but this has probably crept into first place. I love that you don’t need excessive vocal gymnastics to keep the viewers attention. In my 83 years I have had many favorite vocalists but I feel like I have found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in yours. Thank you for coming tn to my life.

Joni Mitchell first female concert I attended. Sat through the concert stunned by not only her vocals, songwriting, and the humble person she is. Then I hear you do this song of hers. Be proud of yourself! Beautifully done and as always with respect to not just the artist but the songwriter(s).

Those high notes are from another world! Lucy shows off her world class ability in this song. I'd imagine it's so easy to hit those notes just off but Lucy is in full control of her voice here

I've listened to this song at least half a dozen times now and it gets better every time and every time it brings tears to my eyes, Lucy uses pretty much her whole vocal range on this 💖 and puts all her emotions 💖 in it . Glorious Rendition

Lucy, Another of MANY examples of your magic. Never heard this song before you livestream. Fell in love with it. As good as Joni's version was, you far surpassed it with your slower, smooth, emotional rendition, and incredible voice. I've now listened to your version dozens of times, and enjoy playing it on the piano at concerts. YOU KEEP ON DOING THIS TO ME!!! PLEASE DON'T STOP!!!

So beautiful 🥺 In my opinion Joni Mitchell was the greatest female songwriter of the 20th century and this was one of her essential masterpieces, only you have a beautiful enough voice to improve on the original. Always think of my mum at Christmas whenever I hear this song now God rest her soul. ❤️
