Hello from Vancouver, BC 🍁
Greetings from the unceded Indigenous lands of British Columbia, Canada.
Thank you for all the comments you sent on my last post, which I published from New York.
My time here is almost up, I fly back to Melbourne tomorrow - but my time here has been truly awesome.
In Toronto, I had the honour of sharing my experience of writing satire about climate change, with a super talented group of comedians - who will be creating climate-related satire about Canada's shitfuckery for the next three years. (A groundbreaking project funded by the Trottier Family Foundation which I hope will be emulated in other parts of the world). (Thank you JP!)
I also managed to take a quick trip to the Niagara Falls!
I dropped in to Edmonton, Alberta - where I visited my cousins and made sure not to vist The Mall.
And now I am writing to you from Vancouver. Where... what to say, I've just been blown away by the natural beauty of this place. And the art - especially the Indigenous art.
But today was the most most memorable day of all because I had the honour of interviewing one of my long-time heroes for the Juice Media Podcast.
David Suzuki gave a public lecture at the University of Western Australia in about 1998. I was an undergrad student there at the time, and his words inspired me deeply - as they have so many others. He is truly one of the great guides of our generation.
So I can't quite put into words how special it was for me that he accepted my invitation for an interview.
And as if that wasn't enough, we were also joined by David's daughter, Severn Cullis-Suzuki (who famously at the age of 12 roasted international delegates at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Something Greta would have to do again 30 years later).
I made sure to give David a special edition of our Department of Shitfuckery t-shirt - which we had printed in green just for him. You'll see when I publish the podcast!
But first I have to finish writing the video I came here to research - an Honest Government Ad for Canada 🇨🇦
Tomorrow is my last day here and I will truly miss this beautiful place and the people I've met. But I also cannot wait to be back with Lucy, Luca and Juno.
I'll catch you all very soon with this month's Honest Government Ad.
Until then - take care!
Giordano

We certainly need about a dozen videos. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Canada. Sorry aboot the fires.
Nice work! Did you have any conversations about the Salmon farming issues over there? Finally the government is listening to the science and reducing salmon farms in some areas, but not enough. We still need desperate attention on this issue in Tasmania. The Salmon Tasmania PR group has now hired Liberal advisor and industry lobbyist Lyle Howard (John Howards Nephew) to run the show and it is greenwashing central. .I also remembered attending a David Suzuki Lecture in Newcastle NSW at the UNI, and yes, still affected by it.
Only brief ones, but I noticed that whenever people ordered salmon they made sure to first ask if it was wild. It is clearly a massive issue over there too. Will reply to your email now too :)
Good stuff, Giovanni!!
I remember that lecture at UWA - a group of us Ag/NRM undergrads went. It was a pretty big deal to have David Suzuki come to WA. We battled to get bands to come west, let alone big-name speakers.
No way Tyson! That is so awesome to know you were there too! *high fives* It was an incredibly powerful public lecture, i think most of us left Winthrop Hall as different people to the ones we were when we got there!
Wonderful to have you in my (still...) beautiful chosen homeland, BC! If ever there were people I wanted to see flying to spread their message, its you and Mr. Suzuki! Safe travels back home!
Thank you David - Vancouver was so beautiful, I wish I could have seen more of BC - we'll have to come back some day!
Wonderful, Giordano! Have a safe trip… and that the jet lag won't make your head spin.
Any idea of when the pod cast will be out? Sorry i am a bit impatient now you told us David Suzuki is going to the star.
I am still working that out myself, Stuart!
Wilderness shot is beautiful and as a former sailboat guy I’m jealous. Your wit and subject matter are catching on worldwide, congratulations truth teller! “There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has come” , be the family of man’s jesters and sneak up on the clowns, (seriously underestimated the creepiness of political clowns, demonic I think, lol). Keep up the wonderful work , love to your family and extended juice-maker clan. Your friend in NYC Mark.
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to the podcast with David Suzuki and his daughter, and to the HGA on Canada
Fantastic! Can't wait to see the vid and hear the Suzuki interview!
If you had interviewed Eckhart Tolle on the collective madness of humanity and the shift we must make to save our planet then your trip would have been PERFECT. Perhaps another time or remotely( he’s just been on an Australian tour)? 😍
One highly satisfying trip Giordano 👏💪🏻🕊
I'm really looking forward to watch the video fertured David Suzuki and Severn Cullis-Suzuki. Have a nice trip!
Wow, I can't wait to hear the interview with Suzuki!!
Safe travels! Hope you enjoyed spring in the Pacific Northwest!
I did, thank you - such a beautiful part of the world!
Awesome. I grew up near Niagara Falls and obviously live only 140 miles south of Vancouver. If you ever swing by Seattle ... LMK. So glad you enjoyed Canada!!
I sure will Robert! Thanks :)
