There's 71 days left to the US election. An election that will shape this century and the lives of all those walking this planet for decades to come. Which is why I'm taking a temporary detour from our usual coverage of the Australien Government's shitfuckery to focus on America's.
Thank you to all the Aussies (and other nationalities) supporting these HGAs: I see this as a joint international aid effort of sorts :)
In this HGA I wanted to focus on the bullshit that's been happening around the US Postal Service, which threatens this essential voting mechanism precisely at a time when people are going to need it most: in the middle of a pandemic, which makes voting in person risky.
This HGA isn't intended to tell Americans who to vote for. That's their choice to make. Rather, it urges folks to make sure their vote is counted, by registering and request their mail-in ballots early. Because low voter turn-out is the biggest threat to a fair election. So if you know US voters, please direct them to vote.org
Thanks for all your feedback on the preview and the changes we made to address the recent developments in the USPS story. Covering the US in an election year keeps us on our toes as things tend to change from day to day - but we're onto it!
On a personal note, we're doing our best to push through the stage 4 lockdown we're under here in Melbourne. Fortunately we've been able to keep working. But it's challenging at home with two small kids not to be able to go outside, or see other people. And it's taken a toll especially on Lucy. That's why she wasn't able to do the voice for this HGA. But I think we can all agree Ellen did an amazing job, even though she had to come round three times to patch-in changes to the script! :-}
I know some of you are also struggling during this time, too; I hope you are finding ways to manage and getting some support; or giving support to those who need it.

Random comment but anyway...I just learnt of the Battle of Blair Mountain and people/groups like Beau of the Fifth Column, Redneck Revolt and Fight4theSouth. People standing up for what's right and though they may be "redneck" they know what is right. I hope they get some traction in the US.
Giordano and Ellen - thanks for another true expose of the current uber-bullshit a la USA. Hopefully Lucy can make it back for the fantastic in-front-of-camera double act HGA is at heart soonish. Being in other parts of Oz at present leaves me hopelessly split between "happy not to be there" and "sending our fellow Australians all our love, support and best wishes". We're all the one species - regardless of where we are on this continent or around the world. Please keep the HGAs coming!

Great and timely video! I text voters here in the US (probably stands for Ununited States these days) to request mail-in ballots and encourage them to take their ballots to their election officials if they’re concerned about mail delays. I also tell them to have a voting plan like the one your video provides, and I loved the recommendation that they use a mailbox in a rich neighborhood if they can no longer find one in theirs. I can’t wait for this to become public. It’s quirky style might even appeal to those who follow the Bullshit Echo Chamber I’m upgrading my subscription to your work!

Why the swap out of "ratfuckery" from the preview to the final?
We were always in two minds about it, we actually filmed both versions so we could make the decision once we saw the final edit and in the end we thought it might make it a tad more accessible for the US audience if we went for the slightly less sweary option :)

Hi Sarah, we don't have an American actor at hand and it would significantly increase the time and cost to hire someone remotely whilst under this lockdown. We try to do things in a way that's as quick and efficient to do as possible :)
