Honest Government Ads | Behind the Scenes 2019
Dear Patrons,
Here's our Behind the Scenes video for 2019 - I hope you enjoy it!
In last year's end of year video, I shared the story of who we are, and why I left my work as an academic researcher to make the Honest Government Ads series.
This year, I wanted to sum up all the ways in which The Juice Media is growning - from our Podcast and our teacher's page, to hiring new team members to help us improve the quality of our videos.
Please remember: none of those things could be happening without you - our Patrons. So I want you to please share with us in every achievement we've made in 2019.
This is a really exciting time in the life of this project! We've just passed the 2,000 Patron milestone (2,257 as I write this), which means we have a solid foundation now to start building something truly special here. And that's what we'll be focusing on in 2020 and beyond.
I am hoping that by the time of the next federal election (2022) we'll have made a significant contribution towards building a politically aware and engaged community of people with a critical mass to help turn this shitfuckery around. (More about that in the new year).
On a lighter note: I also wanted to use this end of year video to share the big news about the new arrival in our little family - Juno! - and some snapshots of Luca's life growing up on the set of the Honest Government Ads.
And lastly, of course, some bloopers and behind the scenes action with our fantastic actors, Ellen and Zoë. I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks to all of you for your support in 2019.
To those who have just joined us - welcome aboard!
And to those who have been here since the beginning, a deep bow of gratitude (you'll soon be receiving a personal message from me, with a little token of appreciation)
We hope you manage to take a break over the holiday / Christmas / New Year season - we're sure planning to do that! - so that we can all bring our best to our work in 2020.
We wish you and your loved ones a healthy and aware 2020. As always, we'll be working hard to make sure it's filled with genuine satire to keep us all sane.
Giordano & fam xo

Welcome back! How about a video about the concept of "adaptation and resilience" to global climate catastrophe. In other words we've now acknowledged climate change is real (finally!) but hey there's nothing we can do about it (really!) so just man up (get resilient!) and we'll all adapt to living in the inferno. Helps if you're cashed up and going to heaven anyway in the rapture!
Hi to all the team and thank you for your incisive, entertaining and truthful presentations. I am a 65 year old grandfather and I fear for my grandchildren's future. Juicemedia is a breath of fresh air in a hostile, threatening and depressing world.
Dear Neil, thank you for leaving this lovely comment - and welcome aboard - thanks so much for your support of our work here. G
Greetings. Thanks for making the truth obvious, viral and entertaining - somehow.
Thank you Kerri for supporting us in that endeavour!
New Patreon from Canada here! My wife and I are expecting our first baby in a couple months, and I found myself worrying more about what his future is going to be like and what kind of world our generation is leaving them. Voices like yours help bring hope, and I'm happy to do my small part to help you share your message!
Hi Thy! I share your trepidation and deep concern for our childrens' future - so you're not alone in feeling that way. We're doing the best we can with the tools we have at our disposal to change that future for a better one. Thank you SO much for helping us in this indeavour - welcome aboard! (PS. Hoping to make a Canada video sometime soon!)
When I need to realise that there are great people doing great things to help our beleaguered nation, I watch Juice Media and revel in the absolute brutal honesty that these vids and casts portray. Keep up this wonderful standard of social comment and in the words of the long-gone democrats "Keep the bastards honest"
Thanks Garry :)
I am proud to become a patron today -2020 is the year that I put my money where my heart is. Thankyou all for your courageous, insightful, brilliantly funny and critically important work in keeping us aware of the truth and the dangers - go well
Thank you so much for this, Sue, it's hugely appreciated - and welcome aboard!
Dear Ellen, Giordano and Zoe - Thank you so much for the work you do. The rewards may appear slow to show, but the way you are making people THINK can only lead to better things for us all. May you all enjoy a great 2020. Rob
You're so welcome, thank you for your generous support over all the years, Rob!
Love you all very much, thank you for such fantastic work.
Thank you for all your support for the past few years, Karl! <3
Thanks for all your work!
You're welcome, Dave, thanks for supporting it!
Keep up the great work in 2020. It's a really special thing you have done. Thank you!
Thank you Mehran!
Great job. It's vital people are educated to the truth behind the Murdoch and fascist backed governments of the world. Social media is partly to blame but we must use these tools to fight back and this is why I became a patron to your work. I truly believe what you are doing is absolutely vital. I also publically back the Greens as I want people to realise that without blood on the streets through revolution (not going to happen I hope) we just need to put people in power who will make a difference using evidence based policy positions rather than greed based policy and divisive dog whistling.
Thanks Jeremy, really appreciate the support!
Thanks for a great year Giordano, I'm so proud to contribute in my small way to what you do :-) Also wanted to say that I love your Podcasts, I think they're a fantastic way to expand on the issues explored in your ads. Really looking forward to hearing more!
Ahh thanks so much Keziah, it's so nice to know people listen to and appreciate the podcast! It's comments like these which inpsire me to kee doing it :)
Fab crew and contribution toward exposing shitfuckery. How about looking closer at 2 of parliaments slithering reptiles Angus Taylor and Barnaby Joyce and their water selloff scam. Surely they can't get away without at least an investigation into the affair. I live in Taylor's electorate, send me a list of questions for him and i will start a paper war with him as a concerned constituent. This pair of natural laxatives need to be exposed. Talor is a prime example of why Lawyers should be barred from serving in any form of public service. ( The missing US 13th admendment )
Thank you Allan! I've been thinking of making specific videos for Ministries/Ministers - maybe we'll finally manage to do this in 2020!
Scott Morrison can never admit to climate change because his rich Christian backers want to hasten the fires, floods and famine which signify Jesus’ return.
sad and probably terrifyingly true
Thanks for the heartwarming insight. Your work gives me a little bit of hope for humanity each month :-).
Thank you Volker <3
Thanks for the year’s worth it, awesome deliverables. Off to say thanks under a different WBS Element by buying some merch before any unintentional visits from the AFP see the stock reassigned to the evidence locker.
Haha thank you Kim <3
