[PREVIEW] Climate Change - Honest Government Ad

Hello Patrons, here's the preview of the new Honest Government Ad that we're working on!

Our empty shell of a Prime Minister just announced his "Climate Solutions Policy" for going into the election. So of course we made an honest announcement for it.

More importantly, we've been inspired here by the awesome school kids around the world who will be going on strike this Friday to protest our Government's inaction on climate c̶h̶a̶n̶g̶e̶ catastrophe. Which is why we've waited to publish this HGA this week.

Before I sign off, I have a question for you all:

What do you think of that last line?! Half of us feel its a solid jab; edgy and brutal, but deserved. The other half feels its a bit unfair! So we filmed a version with it, and another without it.

Am curious to know what you think?!

Catch you in a few days when we publish this!

Another hit. Last line off topic and does not help the argument. Two versions would be good to suit a broader audiance, A and G.

thejuicemedia · March 14, 2019

WOW THANKS FOR ALL YOUR FEEDBACK EVERYONE! <3

A
Andrew Warr · March 14, 2019

Please make sure you make both versions available, Giordano, the PG version and the Adult version..... from what I hear from teenagers any swearing you do is insignificant compared to them.

K
Kate STONE · March 13, 2019

bit late to this probably but ... its great. I dont think the last comment is unfair but I think it distracts from the key message - better to finish on topic.

M
Mark Kentwell · March 13, 2019

Brilliant as usual guys!

P
Peter Goegan · March 13, 2019

Another great hit. Last line? Nothing to do with climate change. Not sure.

A
Adam Ahmed · March 13, 2019

Last line is good standalone, but IMO distracts from the overall message. Left me thinking of a whole different issue, instead of thinking about the climate debacle. Content otherwise is solid! The echo effect sounded a little out of place to me, but I'm guessing something in the video will compliment it well? Overall definitely love it! Another hit!

A
Antoinette Bauer · March 13, 2019

Really liked the first half of the script but found the second part overcrowded. Agree with responses that suggest saving the last (killer) line for another HGA. Otherwise, you are going to end on a tangent.

M
Mark Myers · March 13, 2019

It is a good line and I was initially inclined to say to keep it but it might serve as a distraction from the main message of climate disruption. There is a strong focus on children and the gov disregard for their future however. Perhaps a whole HGA on this topic, in which the line would sit more comfortably/

G
Glenn Andrew · March 13, 2019

Very sharp and on point. The last line does surprise but keep It. It helps remind that there is not an aspect of our society that these creeps haven’t polluted.

S
Sarah Vincent · March 13, 2019

I love the last line. Please keep it in. A great reference to their love of power and disrespect of children.

L
Leonnie Fay Blumson · March 13, 2019

I say leave the last line in - it shows their disrespect for children is pervasive, not specific to this issue, so highlights the depths of their depraved self-centredness. Unless you can get a story out of the child sex abuse scandals.

J
John Baker · March 13, 2019

Keep the last line it is very relevant

M
Marval · March 13, 2019

I think the last line is great and makes it leave on something worth taking into consideration .

J
Joe Root's Rush of Blood · March 13, 2019

i'm for leaving the last line out. there's enough to criticise already and it's a distraction. "never introduce a new topic in your conclusion" as my economics teacher used to say...

C
Cranky Curlew Productions · March 13, 2019

I'm for leaving the last line in. If it stirs a bigger shit fight, great! Juice isn't a space for polite discussion. It's a gorgeous (not just you Ellen) beastie that claws back and the first rule of gaining attention is, as they say, to start a fight. Put in context, the contempt for kids' futures under the present denial/delay mob is, by the scale of planetary peril, more dangerous than pedos.

P
Peter Todd · March 13, 2019

Totally appreciate the point raised in the comments about 'Climate Change' versus 'Global Warming' Global warming is the underlying issue that has impacts beyond just the climate. It would be better if our conversation was always about global warming rather than just limiting it to climate.

C
Cranky Curlew Productions · March 13, 2019

My recollection is that 'Climate change' was invented by the right to re-frame the topic and blunt the impact. They won that one and while 'global warming' is more accurate the words themselves don't quite have the cut through element. George Monbiot's 'Climate Breakdown' is better but I'd prefer 'Climate Emergency'.

K
Kim Hillier · March 13, 2019

it's not like this government cares about children's future. school funding, naplan, child care costs, cradle to year 12 supervision, and supporting convicted pedophiles. not only do Like the last line, go harder!

R
Russell McLeod · March 13, 2019

I agree with those that say leave the last line out. Use it for another vid. Otherwise great work as always guys.

H
Hot30 with Matty · March 13, 2019

The Fair dinkum Power is Very hard to understand though

H
Hot30 with Matty · March 13, 2019

Cacth it this Friday in the Hot 30 - Bang on !

G
Geoff Davies · March 12, 2019

Last line: edgy. On the one hand off global warming topic, on the other, spot on for contempt of kids and their future. Is there any such thing as bad advertising? If it kicks off a shit storm that will help the message, which otherwise might just preach to the choir. btw there was a deliberate denialist campaign to get us to say 'climate change' (just a normal thing the planet does) instead of 'global warming'. I'd favour using the more accurate term.

S
Susan Wood · March 12, 2019

Leave the last line out - better impact without it

G
Garth Taylor · March 12, 2019

Leave the last line out, it will detract from the main message that is so important.

C
Choice Birdsong · March 12, 2019

Ok, I'll stick my head up. Hmmm, climate change ay, I thought it was global warming, for the climate is always changing. I can't say I agree with the whole global warming narrative. Air pollution, yep, cutting down too many trees, yep, polluting oceans/rivers, yep, chemtrailing (or is that geo-engineering) the skies, yep. IMO these are what should be the focus yet by focusing on this undefinable 'climate-change', the polluters get a leave pass while the public pays the bill. Incidentally, without CO2, we wouldn't have too many trees. Oh, I vote for keeping the last line in, because whether people are willing to acknowledge it or not the world is run by these sick pedophiic a-holes.

B
Bob Kavanagh · March 12, 2019

Love the last line. However may be too "shocking" for some & may, therefore, reduce the impact of the rest of the message for them. Great work keep it coming.

S
SOB · March 12, 2019

I was going to say leave the last line out, but I'm a bit swayed by the comments here. I will say that the last line hits so hard it did completely deflect me from the issue at hand. Leaving it in might dull the point of the climate change argument. Also, "coal-fondler-in-chief" .... ahahahahahahaha!!!

A
Archi Jon · March 12, 2019

Cool - AND - normal! As always, top quality stuff :) well done

B
Benito Cao · March 12, 2019

I also think the last line is off topic and distracts from the core message. That line might also put off some viewers from sharing the video once it's out there. You can always use that line in a future video where the line fits the topic better.

C
Colin Briggs · March 12, 2019

I think you should leave the last line in. The connection between Pell, Howard, Abbot and our children fits. It also might finally shock some people into understanding that our country is currently run by a boys club. The fact that two past prime ministers have come out and publicly supported a convicted paedophile show the level of arrogance and complete disregard of the LNP for the public and our courts.

j
joe lenzo · March 12, 2019

i like it but may be too much for many. another last line. "we are on track to fill your kids lungs with carbon which in ten million years will turn into diamonds."

c
colin cass · March 12, 2019

Love it, but the last line is a bit off message. Save it for after the appeal.

S
SALLY WARMINGTON · March 12, 2019

Great ad! I think the paedophile reference is a bit off topic and like some others, I'd say this topic deserves an Honest Govt ad all of its own. Love the "Dept of adults who need child supervision"!

J
Janice Hoad · March 12, 2019

I love the last line!

c
craig Sajben · March 12, 2019

LOL 'coal fondler in chief' HAHAHAHAHA

T
T · March 12, 2019

Leave the last line out, please. It does fit, and I like it, but it's *really* distracting. If you want the focus to be on kids and climate change, then you need to finish on that topic. (Also, it's potentially traumatising for people, and many of them will set their filters to avoid the topic: if you do leave it in, please add a content warning to your posts.)

T
Tony Marshall · March 12, 2019

"Fucked by our dickhead accountant" is a bit hard to understand

T
Tony Marshall · March 12, 2019

This one is so devastating to listen to. So glad that this period of governance is coming to an end and thanks so much for fighting to get the real truth out. Continue to stress how strong the Murdoch press will spread misinformation during the campaign. :)

T
Tony Marshall · March 12, 2019

I think leave the last line in. As we know, this crew make so many blunders and faux pas that the acidity of the gall of Howard will fade over time.

O
Oliver Kunz · March 12, 2019

I'd save that line for another great and honest gov ad where it fits in better. Totally love the very last line about adults needing child supervision... Just don't understand why you call it satire.

K
Keith Mason · March 12, 2019

Great script, but the leave the last line out to retain focus and keep the wick dry on that topic for another day.

R
Robert Perry · March 12, 2019

Leave it out. It distracts from the main message.

C
Carine Visschers · March 12, 2019

I'd take it out - out of context and a bit of a cheap shot feel to it...

E
Ellejoy W · March 12, 2019

I support the line about Pell because as another patron said, it ties in the with the screwing our kids over general theme. As another patron said, brilliant & depressing (with the obvious side note, you're not responsible for the depressing part!) I vote to keep the line :)

A
Alpheus Williams · March 12, 2019

Wonderful and Timely. Would love to see this out before 15 March and the Climate Strike. Special favour, because I live outside the metropolitan area...I'd love to see a full on slam of the National Party...who continue to support coal and deny Climate Change.

M
Michael Nolan · March 12, 2019

Sadly the last line, while a ripper, needs to come out. This conversation needs to be about climate change and the last line distracts from it. I loved thr message though, it summarizes how I feel about about politics and this debate right now so well.

N
Nigel Bell · March 12, 2019

while the overt theme is of climate change denialism as we face an election (at some point), the subtext is of horrendous, self-serving hypocrisy - so leave the last line in.

T
Travis Jaarola · March 12, 2019

The last line is just reiterating a fact.

J
John L Smith · March 12, 2019

It's a great job as usual, but I'm torn re the last line. Some people have very negative reactions to jokes about that sort of thing, and while I personally get it, and can deal with it, I fear it may damage the rest of the message.

P
Peter Todd · March 12, 2019

Sounds awesome! ( as always) The last line made me honestly Bhah! out loud, brutal - but deserved. I would say that it does come from left of field, which is why it works so well :) However, as others have noted, it seems a little out of place given the rest of the message is on point, but then again, it does tie into the whole 'supporting those who are fucking up our kids' future' theme.... Ohh, leave it in - it's a smack in the balls :D

S
Sam Lindsay · March 12, 2019

Sounds great, but as others have mentioned I think the last line draws away from all the other topics mentioned in the clip.

J
Jon Booker · March 12, 2019

I'd leave the Pell comment out as it detracts from the brilliant content of this video and is not climate related. Maybe do a video on the abuses of the church perpetrated on the innocent.

C
Caz888 · March 12, 2019

Wonderful work once again. I vote leave the last line in!!!

I
Iwan Boskamp · March 12, 2019

Please leave the last line in. It is an exact representation of our current government. Great job on this again! Keep them coming!

W
Warren Barrington · March 12, 2019

It is clear abbott and howard are supportive of Pell the child molester. Positions of power and status have a different set of rules. That is something that needs to change. Perhaps their support for him shows there own insecurities about their belief that they are above accountability. My concern is that reference even though it is true may detract from the rest of the message. Particularly since Pell is appealing his verdict.

J
Jaap Helsen · March 12, 2019

Yes yes and YES! I feel like shit about this more every day. of course this shit is depressing. I am very happy with my two kids, but I feel terrible about the world they might (as if there is any doubt) inherit. We´ve damned them all to hell. At least we moved out of the future floodzones of the Netherlands to the future deserts of Spain, but I am quite upbeat about the desalination plants. They will probably be ok, though the billions of poor... not so much.

E
Edward Lander · March 12, 2019

Hi guys, amazing HGA. Can't wait to see the final video. My 2 cents on your question: I feel the kiddy fiddler reference caught me off guard a little, but then I don't follow Australian politics as closely as you guys. My personal feeling is that the bulk of the content stands up for itself, and it doesn't need such a controversial ending.

A
Angela · March 12, 2019

Brilliant. Perfect. Depressing. (That's not really your fault) The last line. Love it.

A
Angela · March 12, 2019

YES YES SO MUCH YES before I've even listened to it. Just. Yes. Thank you.

t
thejuicemedia · March 12, 2019

Thanks Angela! Hope you feel the same after you listen to it :D
