AMA #2, Put Your Questions Here
People seemed to enjoy the last AMA I did so let's do it again. I know a lot of you missed the first Question post, so here's your chance to get in for October. I'll leave this up for a week or so (or until I have enough questions for an episode), and then record and release sometime later this month.
Post questions below. I'll try to go back through earlier posts and pull anything interesting from there, but to be sure your question will be read please post it in this thread. Ask as many questions as you like, but I reserve the right to be selective if need be.
Thanks as always for your continued support. It really does mean the world to me that I'm able to do this work on even a semi-professional basis.

This may be a bit vague, but what are your thoughts on the concept of the "Three Way Fight" in antifascism? I know the show has often stressed that fascism and capitalism cannot be effectively opposed in isolation from each other, but I would like to further understand the differences in perspectives on the question of what the relationship is between fascism and capital and what we should do about it. (pronouns he/him btw)
I've read Bring the War Home and Blood and Politics after hearing them referenced in the podcast, and found them both brilliant. Would you ever consider doing a reading list on IDSG-related topics? It's hard to know from the outside which books are worth reading, or will be good, and which are just cash-ins.
Do you see the American Nazis refer often to Eastern European conspiracies or figures? I recently read A Spectre Haunting Europe by Hanebrink and The Holocaust in Romania by Ioanid and previously I never really realized the extent to which non-German peoples in Eastern Europe were glad to murder Jews, Nazis or no Nazis. How often do the Americans today call back to Codreanu or the Arrow Cross?
please tell me about your cats. i would like to know how good they are. how soft???
Should we lobby for you both to guest on Well There's Your Problem?
Or maybe the Christmas episode of Behind the Bastards?
Favourite science fiction? Apart from Dr Who. Maybe a top five if that's too specific.
How did this start? Listening to bad people?
I was recently watching Michael Knowles (Daily Wire guy) interviewing James Allsup (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIRH-mBE2-Y&t=542s). At one point Knowles asked him if he believes in Christ and James equivocates. Why would this be? I thought the Alt-Right was all gung ho on hiding behind Christianity as a symbol of the West and White Supremacy, etc.?
Have you been keeping track of Red-Brown entryism? I.e. the Dirt Bag Left, Jimmy Dore, Grayzone types parroting far-right talking points on idpol; tankies and fascists both supporting authoritarians like Assad and Putin, etc. If so, what is the reaction on the far-right to this seeming convergence? Also, which far right personality made the case that Norm Macdonald was secretly a Nazi, and what was their case? Sorry if that's too many questions. If you answer any of them, please don't mention my name.
Why do you hang out with that British dickhead?
Who scares you the most?
Who do you think is the biggest contributor to the far right, either financially, through on the ground activism or as a public figure? I understand it can be hard to compare someone “just asking questions” like Tucker Carlson with someone physically assaulting people and again someone funding either of these types of people, but as someone documenting their activities I was wondering who you think has the biggest impact? (Feel free to ignore if you think they’ll view this as a contest)
Not really a question, but I'd be interested in the minutia of your cataloguing, organizing, metadata, referencing, etc, systems, as well as what tools/techniques you use to grab video, audio, scraping archives, RSS, etc. General information management tips for research 🙂. Thanks for all of your work.
I have a question about the so-called “Libertarian-to-Alt-Right pipeline.” Is this really a useful framing? I’m personally skeptical of this framing because I have long been suspicious of the right-wing Libertarian movement and specific popular figures associated with the movement. Certainly over the several years I’ve been Online, I have encountered a lot of self-described Libertarians who seemed unusually invested not only in the whole End The Fed business and (((central banking))) in general, but also who were parroting the “states rights” talking points long used by staunch Southern segregationists. Plus, many explicitly defended the CSA and used a lot of Neo-Confederate talking points in their attempts to white-wash (ha!) the CSA, the Jim Crow South, conservative opposition to civil rights action, and so forth. Furthermore, the infamous Neo-Nazi Ron Paul newsletters were apparently written by Lew Rockwell, who is of course one of the big figures in the right-wing Libertarian movement. Simply stated, is the “pipeline” framing problematic because the overlap between right-wing Libertarianism and outright white supremacy has *always* been pretty damn significant? Sorry for the length of this message. :P Thanks!
When i first went on Facebook i didn't realise that Yankees use "libertarian" differently to the rest of us. And friended quite a few of them. A lot of whom are openly fashy now. I don't think there is a pipeline. For a lot of them "libertarian" was always code for Black-hatred and the bigotries of small business tyrants.
Thank you so much for your work. I found your and Jack's work in a difficult moment in my life with sudden serious health problems and losing touch with my loving parents as they drift further and further into the right wing bubble. It overtook their life. They are both educated healthy people (immigrants!) but totally lost touch to reality lately and only echo right wing talking points. This is very emotional to them, so they feel the need to talk about it. This goes to the point that they are afraid to go to the city as they see too many brown people here in Germany and feel threatened. You helped me understand the rubbish they consume and help me to stay patient and empathetic and keep the family together. You both are great teachers and helped me specifically in a difficult situation but also to grow as a person. Thank you for your time. Anyways: Do you agree that right wing propaganda reality has a sectarian aspect? It is hostile towards reasoning and undermines every other authority. Do you know of projects that ease people into questioning their fascist world views. No right winger would open mindedly listen to you two for example. I hope you get what I mean, English is not my forte, but this comes from a place with a lot of despair and anger.
