IDSG Bonus 43: Copenhagen (2002)

Inspired by the filmed play aspects of The Two Popes, Jack picked a movie he loved from his younger years, a 2002 BBC adaptation of a play, both of which are entitled Copenhagen. This is a Rashomon-like narrative around the moment at which Werner Heisenberg (who was working for the German atomic bomb program) approached Niels Bohr (who would go on to work for the American bomb program) at Bohr's estate in Copenhagen. There are effectively only three actors in the entire film, a young Daniel Craig as Heisenberg, Stephen Rea as Bohr, and Francesca Annis as Bohr's wife Margarethe.

The film is a minor masterpiece and involves themes of memory, of politics, of history, and ultimately of complicity. It can be viewed for free on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTn9eKfH11M

Thanks as always for your support. We've got a new mainline episode to record this evening, and more planned for upcoming weeks.
