IDSG Bonus 35 -- Independence Day (1996)
Jack and I recorded an episode about the 1996 film Independence Day, because we're looking at movies about the American presidency, and how better to do that than to embrace the cheesy human genocide/American exceptionalist pornography than this entry into the Devlin/Emmerich oeuvre?
Spoiler alert: this is deeply stupid, but we both kinda like it anyway.

When I was a child this was the biggest disappointment. The adverts only showed a bit and it looked epic and dark . It was not dark. As a kid I was pretty meh about the goofiness of it. Thought we were getting some sort alien caliber invasion disaster movie. One item I haven’t seen the retros discuss about this as much. The ad campaign was crazy good. Then we had quad and such 😂… ah, simpler times
Goldblum opens his laptop on 9 minutes 11 seconds. I can't believe this wasn't baked to death by conspiracy.
You mentioned talking about films elsewhere. Is this recorded and distributed?
Seconded. I am very interested in people talking about Corman
