Livestream Recording, 09MAR2024
I meant to put this up for those who couldn't make it to the live recording a couple of weeks ago, but life got in the way (and I needed to do some light editing for content). This one gets a bit more casual towards the end, so if you're just here for the fascist-heavy content, you can probably skip out after the first hour or so.
I'm hoping to get a new regular episode and a bonus episode recorded in the next week or so.
While you wait for that, you can check out Jack and my appearance on The Red Rose Film Society podcast, which published yesterday. We discuss BlacKKKlansman, which is a film I find hugely problematic but also highly insightful. Check that out here: https://www.redrosefilm.com/episodes/episode-34-blackkklansman-wguests-daniel-harper-amp-jack-graham-of-i-dont-speak-german
Thanks as always for your support.

I would love to hear your comments on the creator of Tekumel being exposed as a nazi. I've heard a lot on it from people who are on the RPG side of the issue, but I'm pretty sure they're missing a lot of nuance.
In the conversation I agree that acceptance of Zionism benefit both Israel and Antisemites : if I can share a silver lining among the neverending slew of truly heinous dehumanisation that has been thrown in our way in the past 6 months... Getting to read a lot on the imperial, racists and white supremacists roots of the construction of the state of Israel helped me to debunk a lot of far-right antisemitic talking points mascarading both as pro anti-zionism that I didn't know how to respond to before. And that in the end enhanced and made develop a more genuine respect, understanding and appreciation for jewish culture, religious practices and traditions. That made me wonder a lot about the people who tout censorship on discourse of Israeli politics as fighting against antisemitism : I think more and more that public discourse about education about the history of israel and the history of jewish traditions from the left would do a way better job at protecting the diaspora than censorship at the moment.
I've had a similar experience. I knew more than enough about the history and present reality of Israel to be anti-Zionist before this, but I am now much more confident, informed, and better equipped to debunk hasbara talking points. And I too have developed a much deeper appreciation for the Jewish practices of justice, tikkun olam, etc., and specifically the powerful tradition of Jewish anti-Zionism which is as old as political Zionism itself, and which is stronger than ever despite the best efforts of the Israel lobby to vilify and marginalize it. Of course, protecting the diaspora from actual antisemitism is the opposite of what Zionists and the Israeli state have always tried to do, so the censorship and McCarthyism and insistence that all Jews are responsible for Israel's genocide are all perfectly consistent with their interests.
The zone of interest is a masterpiece ! I really liked that movie a lot.
