Grace O'Malley (Gráinne O'Malley) part 1

I’m not sure if you’re aware, but there is a book series where the main character is based off Grace O’Malley and it’s dirty smut. The series is by Bertrice Small. I only bring it up because you mentioned there should be a porno based off all the nicknames.

It's interesting--Ireland in the early Middle Ages was overall a much better society for women. It was still a patriarchy, but women has legal protections that they didn't after English law replaced the Irish Brehon law system. For example, under the Irish Brehon law, women maintained the rights to their personal property upon marrying, they could divorce (or even arrange to make "trial marriages" before committing to anything formal, like you say) and, my favorite: a pregnant woman could have her husband fined if he neglected to provide for her food cravings.:-) However, this law system seems to have been largely driven out by the late Tudor era.
