In this first episode on Caroline of Brunswick, we meet our favorite chaotic princess long before she ever sets foot in England. From an isolated (and honestly bizarre) childhood in Brunswick to a family dynamic that would mess up literally anyone, Caroline grows into exactly the kind of loud, attention-seeking, boundary-pushing woman the British royal court was absolutely not prepared for.
Meanwhile, over in England, the Prince of Wales is…deeply unserious. Broke, drunk, and already secretly married (!!!), he’s basically forced into this match for financial reasons.
What follows is one of the worst meet-cutes in royal history, a wedding where the groom is blackout drunk, and the beginning of a marriage built entirely on mutual hatred.
And yet—somehow—the public is obsessed with her.
This is part one of Caroline’s story, and trust us… it only gets messier.
