Georgiana Cavendish befriending Lady Elizabeth Foster, Bess, invited her to live with her and her husband to help her during difficult times. Bess later began an affair with the Duke. When Georgiana found out the three of them continued living together in the same household for years.

The thrupple that was G, Bess, and the Duke lives rent free in my brain.

Okay, it's recency bias since I just finished a book about her, but Maria Fitzherbert.

Georgiana Cavendish. I love her story and one of my favorite episodes. I go back to listen to that episode often.

Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire, her sister, her daughter, and niece all had some messy love lives. Georgiana’s daughter married the lover of Georgiana’s sister, the Countess of Bessborough. And the daughter of the Countess was Lady Caroline Lamb who had an affair with Lord Byron.

As much as I love the regency era women it has got to be Ernest Augustus (fifth son of George III and Queen Charlotte). I took a ghost tour in London a few years back and this has been living rent free in my brain since. This fucking guy may or may not have murdered his valet. It was ruled a suicide in court, but then how did he get hit in the head in another room. Then tried to meddle in an election. Finally married the ex fiancƩ of his brother who jilted him. He was such an embarrassment that Prinny of all people paid him off to leave the country.

I was going to say Jane Austen’s sassy dedication to the prince regent but that’s been said šŸ˜‚ but to keep in the same vein, she accepted a marriage proposal from her close friend’s not very appealing (but marital stability wise ā€œdecentā€) brother and then literally changed her mind the next morning. Even in that time where her future life setup was SUPER precarious financially, she couldn’t deal with settling in marriage for the sake of that stability. She also stayed friends with those friends even though she ditched their brother lol

One of my favorite fun facts from regency era had to be that Jane Austen openly despised the Prince Regent. We often talk about times when it was treasonous to have any ill feelings toward the king but now we’re at a time when a woman can voice her disgust so openly and support the Princess (despite still being pressured to dedicate her book to him—she still found a way to do that in an unflattering way haha)

I personally love Ada Lovelace. She was Lord Byron’s only legitimate child and went in a completely different direction than him, lol. She’s widely considered the first computer programmer and was an amazing mathematician. She’s sometimes called the Enchantress of Numbers, which is badass.

Tough call. I do think Princess Charlotte was more impactful, but I do love me some Georgaina #YasBess

I loved this episode and had no idea that Kings Cross was named after ole Prinny himself 🤣 but as far as my favorite from the Regency era it’s gotta be Georgiana! From the gambling to her relationship with Bess, I love it all!

The relationship between Lord Byron and Lady Caroline Lamb…talk about messy!!!! I too would write Glenvaron if I found myself in that historical situationship

Mary Shelley for sure!!! I mean literally starting a whole genre at 17!

I would have to say Princess Charlotte is my Roman Empire. How different the world would be if she became queen. Her demise was so unnecessary and heartbreaking. My favorite story about her was when her father (George, this fucking guy) told her she could only visit the queen so she ran out but didn’t know how to get a carriage so she had to ask a passerby for help and went to her mothers house.

Definitely the daughters of Queen Charlotte! Such tragic figures of the regency!!
