ooh so i just looked up ptolemy vii cuz i was curious (shout out to wiki). his reign and even identity are controversial, but it’s likely he was granted royal dignity after his death, if he did exist. his parents were cleo ii and either ptolemy vi or ptolemy viii. some say ptolemy viii was his uncle and killed him. and technically, P viii should be the vii. also fun fact! numbering them is a modern convention! they never did it in their own time, hence the other names they used and epithets
i recently went through “all” the ptolemies and cleopatras and (almost) everyone in between. so interesting, but reusing names is not it
