π¨ PURE LIGHT VISUAL ENGINE β BETA TESTING IS NOW OPEN!
After many weeks of development, testing, shader improvements and working through different PC configurations, Pure Light Visual Engine is finally being released to you in BETA.
Pure Light is a native visual plugin for Euro Truck Simulator 2 that works directly with DirectX 11. It allows you to change the appearance of the game and use screen movement effects, screen filters and an extensive configuration overlay.
This is still a test version. Bugs, graphical artifacts or problems on specific configurations may occur. That is exactly why we are starting the beta tests β so that we can find these cases together and prepare a stable release.
What does Pure Light Visual Engine include?
π¨ Pure Light Reference
The built-in image-processing system is responsible for features including:
- lighting and exposure;
- protection of bright and dark areas of the image;
- contrast, brightness and saturation;
- color temperature and tint;
- tone mapping;
- bloom and cinematic light glow;
- Ambient Light;
- sharpening and detail control;
- vignette;
- cinematic image characteristics;
- selective control of individual colors;
- automatic adjustment of effects to the current in-game conditions.
Most settings can be adjusted directly in the Pure Light panel and saved in your own profiles.
π₯ Screen Motion
Screen Motion changes the position and rotation of the final image while leaving the actual in-game camera untouched.
The effect reacts to:
- uneven roads;
- truck suspension movement;
- cornering and body roll;
- acceleration and braking;
- different road surfaces, such as asphalt, concrete, gravel, grass and dirt roads;
- engine startup and shutdown;
- engine operation while stationary.
Each of these elements can be adjusted to your own preferences.
πΉ Screen Filters
The plugin includes several additional filters:
- DashCAM β camera logo, flashing REC indicator, speed, in-game time and day, compass direction, heading and coordinates;
- Aviators β animated glasses with lens filters and adjustable scale, intensity and colors;
- Dirty Lens β a dirty-lens effect with adjustable strength and size.
The filters can be assigned to custom keyboard shortcuts, including the F13βF24 keys available on Stream Deck.
πΈ Pure Light Screenshots
Screenshots taken with the "F10" key, including HQ mode, can contain the complete final Pure Light appearance:
- image processing;
- Screen Motion;
- DashCAM;
- glasses;
- Dirty Lens.
This means that the saved screenshot should look the same as the image visible during gameplay.
To double the screenshot resolution, edit config.cfg and use:
uset g_hq_3d_scale "2.0"
uset g_hq_3d_screenshot "1"
π₯οΈ Live Configuration Panel
The Pure Light panel does not stop the game from rendering. While changing settings, you can continue seeing the game and immediately observe the results.
Controls:
- "HOME" β open and close the panel;
- "INSERT" β alternative panel key if "HOME" is captured by another program;
- "CTRL + HOME" β open the panel and reset its position;
- "F10" β take a screenshot.
Important information about ReShade
β οΈ RESHADE EFFECTS MUST BE DISABLED!
If you want to use the Pure Light visual effects, disable all active ReShade effects.
ReShade may remain installed, but its shaders must not process the image at the same time. Combining ReShade effects with Pure Light may cause:
- incorrect colors;
- overexposure;
- duplicated bloom;
- squares and halos around bright objects;
- flickering;
- other graphical artifacts.
During beta testing, please test Pure Light without any additional image processing from ReShade.
Installation
1. Close Euro Truck Simulator 2.
2. Download and extract:
PureLightBeta.rar
3. Open the main Euro Truck Simulator 2 installation directory.
It is usually located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2
4. Open the following folders:
bin/win_x64/plugins
5. Extract the files into:
Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\win_x64\plugins
6. Weather and Snowymoon V2
snowymoon.io_lighting_v1_0_0.cfg β place in win_x64 (USE LIGHTING A)
____ Pure Light Weather β place in the mods folder
7. Start the game.
7. During the first launch, Pure Light will automatically prepare the required camera settings. Then close and start the game again, especially if you are using ETS2 1.60.
What about the cameras and walking around the cabin?
The additional camera, movement-sequence and cabin-walking system is included, but prepared effects β such as moving from the driverβs seat to the bed β are currently disabled by default.
The previous configuration was prepared quickly, mainly to show you how the system works. I want to rebuild these movements so that the transitions are calmer, more natural and feel more like actually moving around the cabin.
If anyone wants to experiment with it now, the following can be configured manually:
- camera position;
- rotation on the X, Y and Z axes;
- up to ten movement stages;
- a separate movement speed for each stage;
- smooth transitions between points;
- returning along the same route in reverse order;
- custom keyboard shortcuts;
- operation with the engine running or switched off.
The system does not require Tobii, TrackIR or any other head-tracking device.
This is a BETA version
Please remember that this is not the final release yet. Pure Light has been tested on different computers and ETS2 versions, but hardware configurations, drivers and additional programs can behave differently.
If:
- the panel does not open;
- the effects do not work;
- the game crashes;
- the image starts flickering;
- squares, halos or other artifacts appear;
- one of the filters does not work correctly;
please send me the following file:
game.log.txt
You can usually find it here:
Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\game.log.txt
It is best to close the game immediately after the problem occurs and then copy the log. Starting ETS2 again will overwrite its contents.
Please briefly include the following information with your report:
- what exactly does not work;
- when the problem occurred;
- which ETS2 version you are using;
- your graphics card model;
- whether you use ReShade or any other overlays;
- optionally, a screenshot showing the artifact.
The complete log will help me identify the cause and prepare a fix much faster.
Thank you for taking part in the tests β€οΈ
These are the first public beta tests of Pure Light Visual Engine. Your reports, suggestions and hardware configurations will help me improve compatibility, default settings and the final appearance of the entire project.
Test it, adjust the image to your liking and let me know what works well and what still needs improvement.
