MARKOS on Video Congestion
First of all — thank you. We are getting ready to cross into 1,000 followers, which is an exciting milestone.
To be clear, however, roughly 75% of you (about 750 people) are following for free. I’m grateful to all of you, but I want to highlight that this means only ~250 paid members have access to the videos — and they are not watching simultaneously, so something is not adding up. In addition, a large majority have been enjoying perks like 3–4 minute preview videos at no cost. I must now address both of these issues.
As a Greek creator, I’ve always believed in building things with patience and respect. There’s an old Greek proverb: “One minute of patience, ten years of peace.” I’ve been reflecting on that a lot lately.
I want to address the recent Google Drive overload issues that have affected streaming for many of you. I know how frustrating buffering and failed access can be, especially when you’re looking forward to a new release.
Supposedly, it is said that these problems are coming from Google tightening server capacity at release times. With only ~250 paying members (and not everyone downloading simultaneously), the volume versus possible download doesn’t align with the scale and tone of some of the complaints — even cancellations — received.
Regardless, effective immediately, here are my pro-active changes:
1. Non-member previews paused: The 3–4 minute preview versions will no longer be available for free followers. Paying members will continue to get full access of course. I may reintroduce limited previews later once things stabilize.
2. File quality adjustment: I will stop uploading full Pro-Res files. Videos will remain high-quality 1080p (or the best render available), but without the extra overhead that increases server strain.
3. Multiple links per release: Every new video will have three identical-quality links (Version 1, 2, and 3). Please spread out across them instead of all using the same link at launch. This should significantly reduce overload pressure.
These adjustments help protect the long-term sustainability of the page and allow me to keep focusing on creating the high-production M/M content you enjoy. As the ancient Greeks taught us with “Πάν Μέτρον Άριστον” — moderation in all things — sometimes small, measured changes lead to better results for everyone.
I’m sorry for any inconvenience during this transition, but I believe they’ll lead to a smoother experience overall.
Appreciate your understanding as we keep growing the right way — with patience, respect, and a bit of that famous Greek spirit.
And with that, I will gladly get back to creating great work. — Markos
