This film is built around closeness and consequence. The camera stays where the heat is: on skin, on posture, on the small choices that turn a room from casual to charged. It’s men in a world that doesn’t pretend bodies are neutral. It’s tenderness with teeth.

I love the Fassbinder-style lighting - keeping us just at the setting or rising of the sun, and creating an urgency "do it now before it's too late." Love the erotic architecture, and the handsome tough men.
What can I say? There's porn, which I absolutely love and of course it has value...but that's just the mechanics of "insert tab a into slot b." You aren't doing porn. You are doing erotica. I am delighted, entertained, and emotionally nourished by the shear lyric art of what you have accomplished. Does it turn me on? Hell yes! It also engages that primal, lyric, mythical sense of wonder that exists in all of us before we think about limitations and reality. I truly enjoy the sensual window that you've opened into the world. :)
I haven’t seen the film of Querelle which this references, but I did read the novel & recently saw a review on YouTube of the film that included snapshots. So, I was intrigued about how this would work. It’s great as an artistic statement, the elements of lighting, color & port setting create a sensual atmosphere that feels realistic. I appreciate seeing different body types as well as black men. The facials were a fun surprise as well as the golden shower. One of my fave parts was the 4 sailors simply showing their butts - cute & sexy. It’s an impressive, seductive piece that doesn’t shy away from life’s seedy parts. 1 disappointment is that the shirtless sailor who was well admired by others didn’t include sexual action. I appreciated the ending not being fatalistic like Querelle, that was clever.
This version is simply stylized in the Fassbinder style. That is where the similarities end, I believe though I had a lot of fun creating this. So many details and so many easter eggs I can plant. Thank you for appreciating this and I will continue to be create and stylistic in the future - though I might have gone too far with the space epic coming soon. You'll see what I mean.
