I turned off patreon payments for august
I am taking a break for one month.
I have been working myself dizzy, and my productivity reached crawling speeds (see this months half finished exclusive). I think I pushed myself too far! though my mood is still high, my energy is nonexistant. I will take a break to recoup and get refreshed.
though knowing me, I never sit still, I will still be creative. but you can expect me to fully return september to sketch more pages of "on full display"

some non-important details:
what I think is happening; the exclusives are just too close together for me to spend crunch time on each of them. the problem with having 12 months in a year and doing a monthly project on each. there's no flexibility. I would like to extend months so they are 6 weeks, but patreon pays per month no matter what. another option would be to scale down the projects, but you cant tell a story in less pages. I have been thinking of solutions, but those will have to wait till I have a clearer mind.
right now I will just accept that I sometimes need a vacation, jobs in the netherlands gives 30-60 days a year, I might as well keep to those rules X) with the added luxury that I don't have to plan them a year ahead of time.
I also know people will tell me to keep payment going while I'm away. but I cannot in clear consciousness do that. you all are so generous that I can afford to skip a few months. and though I have no issue with getting paid for my work, if I don't do the work, it feels absolutely wrong.

Wait, I've seen YouTube channels set it up to take out payments only when they release a video and not monthly. At least in the past. Couldn't you just do the same thing on a consistent 6 week basis?

Ya I think destressing will be good even when you announced you were talking a break you just kept posting and I just kept thinking they need to slow down your post speed is amazing but slow down. But yes please take a “heathy break” this time.
I have full confidence in your work that I totally wouldn't mind continuing to pay while you are taking a break. The key is knowing you are taking a break which you have told us in this post. But I also respect that you do whatever makes you feel best and if suspending things helps keep your conscience clear, I support that too.

As a patron on the monthly exclusives tier, I would have *no* issue paying monthly but only get an exclusive every other month since that would allow you more time to really focus on it rather than doing it on crunch time. Your work is amazing!!

The idea behind patreon is to give artist more freedom to do things. I'm not here to demand work, but to appreciate what you make, as well as giving you a bit of money so you can do things without pressure. Fijne vakantie!
In exercise there is a deload work where you do significantly less in order for your body to adapt. Maybe every fifth or six weeks take a deload week to recover
the rest of my month is essentially already recover time. my normal comic pages are but a fraction of the effort of an exclusive, but with the energy drain, you kinda start dragging out 2 hours of work over 8 hours

yeah I was thinking of splitting up the exclusive into two pieces. so for each month its less work, but together they create a bigger comic. anyway, food for thought X)
