Everyone Is Missing The Point! | "Cleveland!" by Taylor Swift | TLOAS: The Encore

Everyone has an opinion about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship. Taylor Swift has decided she has something to say about that, and that something, is that she agrees! 👀

In this episode of Hazed Reactions, Rick and Robert join Corrina to experience “Cleveland!” from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, and there's a lot more happening here than a trip to Travis Kelce's hometown.

From the opening verses, Taylor takes aim at the insults people have thrown at her and her relationship. The criticism of her appearance, the judgments about who she is, and the things people say to diminish her love story all become part of the song itself. She even skips over certain words, leaving us to fill in the blanks which should make the next concert a HOOT.

And then comes the chorus.

“But my baby likes what he likes.”

It's a declaration that doesn't need anyone else's approval. People can criticize the relationship, judge Taylor, or decide they don't like the song. None of that changes how she feels about Travis or how he feels about her.

💗 Is “Cleveland!” Taylor's way of turning the haters' own words into a love song?

We also get into the personal side of the story. Travis took Taylor back to Cleveland, showed her the Heights, and introduced her to the places that shaped him growing up. There's something special about falling in love with someone and getting to experience their world through their eyes: where they grew up, the places they remember, and the things that made them who they are.

It's not just about a city. It's about getting to know the person you love on a deeper level.

But here's the interesting part: “Cleveland!” is getting plenty of criticism itself, with people calling it cheesy, corny, and cringe.

So what if the song's unapologetic, almost over-the-top declaration of love is precisely what makes its message interesting? What if the people who can't stand the song are the very people Taylor is addressing?

That's the question we're exploring as we break down the lyrics, talk about the relationship, and try to understand what Taylor is communicating through this song.

Is it a playful, cheesy love song? A clapback at the haters? A personal tribute to the man she loves? Or can it be all three?

10:12 ...Robert: "we all know what the word is, and her leaving it Blank"... do you mean like, Blank Space? And didn't Travis' say that's his favorite song?

I really enjoyed your comments. This video reminded me of WKRP in Cincinnati (I’m old). I think we have to honor the way people feel regardless of the fact that they may or may not be famous. Of course she puts herself out there for everyone to judge, so the expectation is that they will. For me, it’s a total bop. Is it my favorite TS song - nope, but I will be singing “my baby likes what he likes” all day.

Yess, this is it exactly!!! It’s not my favorite by far, but it’s fun when it comes on and I enjoy it!

This is not a song for them really. lol! I mean…if I were Travis my feelings would be hurt! This is a song to tell the haters to F off! Period! You are right Robert, in concert everyone would go crazy!!!

Why would your feelings be hurt? To each their own but someone declaring publicly that they don't give 2 shits what anyone else says and that im the love of their life (something she's never said about someone else btw) is a huge flex for Travis. To each their own opinion on what love looks/sounds like, but here on this channel this is DEFINITELY a song for them to celebrate their happy love :)

Exactly!!!!! I said as much on The Swiftologist trashing of LOASG. I said he needs some WOOD in the worst way. Real or manufactured. lol. I blocked him.

I can't stand him. I honestly wish the fanbase would just cancel that dude. It's not even constructive criticism, it's just hating on her while using her name to further his own agenda. Ridiculous. So mad he got a secret session because he doesn't deserve that memory or life experience.

I really didn’t like Cleveland when I first heard it. It still isn’t my favorite but it deserves its spot in the Encore. It serves a purpose for sure. I also completely missed the innuendo that matches Wood. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I literally said to myself. What a terrible metaphor like how did I miss that and then when you put it in the structure of encore it definitely serves a purpose. It’s a hinge between patient zero and pink clouding that prevents pink clouding from looking like regret that she wants to return to a relationship instead of what it really is, which is regret that she may have hurt someone

Hinge between PZ and PC 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 you’re exactly right. I never would’ve thought of it that way
