Rap Fan Reacts To Taylor Swift's "Maroon" (Unexpected Reaction) | Journey To The Eras Tour PT8
Taylor Swift's "Maroon" has become a fan favorite from Midnights... but what happens when our resident hip-hop fan hears it for the very first time?
In this episode of Journey To The Eras Tour with Hazed Reactions, Rick introduces one of his personal favorite Taylor Swift songs to Robert, expecting an easy win. Instead, we end up having one of our most interesting discussions yet.
While Robert immediately connects with the production, beat, and the way Taylor attacks the instrumental, he struggles to fully understand what the song is trying to say on a first listen. Is "Maroon" a traditional song at all... or is it more like reading someone's diary entry out loud?
Along the way we dive deep into:
🎵 First impressions of "Maroon"
🎵 Taylor's flow and vocal delivery throughout the song
🎵 The significance of the different shades of red imagery
🎵 Favorite lyrics and standout moments
🎵 Why Rick loves this song so much
🎵 "Your roommate's cheap-ass screw top rosé" and other iconic lines
🎵 Interpreting the bridge and "that's a real fucking legacy"
🎵 Whether songs can grow on you after multiple listens
🎵 Could Robert change his mind on a future revisit?
This episode sparked some really interesting conversation, and we'd love to hear from you:
Did you immediately connect with "Maroon" on your first listen, or was it a grower for you?
What do YOU think Taylor is trying to say in this song?
As always, thank you so much for watching and supporting Hazed Reactions!

Such a vibe song
I didn't hate this song when it came out, but I just wasn't a fan of that distortion sound of the instrumentals. But I loved the lyrics. Then I heard it on the Eras tour, just her and the piano, and I completely fell in love with it!
Totally fair! I go back and forth with how I feel about distortion in songs. For some reason this one scratches my brain haha but I’m not always a fan either so I get it!
Great breakdown as always. I also love the double entendre or homonym for maroon. Marooned means to be stranded or abandoned which goes directly into they lyric: "That's a real fucking legacy to leave". also agree with you, Corrina, when her passionate love color of red tarnishes and gets darker to maroon.
Oooh I didn’t even think about being marooned!! That’s such an awesome outlook to have on this song, thanks for adding that in!
Maybe you should do the song Red because some of us think maroon is a follow up to Red.
Haha yea our artwork for the episode says “A Sequel To Red?!” We just didn’t verbally talk about it but it would be fun to do Red even though it’s one we all have heard. Could be fun to take another look after this song!
Corinna and Richard, I love that you coordinated your shirts for Maroon! 😊
Had to haha ♥️🫶🏼
This is one of my favs from Midnights! This track hits harder when you understand the Tay-lore, in my opinion. On her 4th album, the title track is 'red' where she talks about emotions in terms of colors and "loving him was red" because it's the color of passion and emotion and love and anger and shame (it's the era of all too well).. if those are Red feelings, looking back at this time now in the midnights era, it's now different shades of reds and is deeper and more nuanced than just being 'red'. To take it one step further, you have Daylight from Lover, where she directly says "I used to think love was burning red, but it's golden, like daylight". And now, in her Showgirl era, it's Opalite!
