Happy Pride Month from all of us at Hazed Reactions! 🌈
As we celebrate Pride Month, today's upload also arrives on the anniversary of the landmark 2020 Supreme Court decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, which affirmed federal workplace protections for LGBTQ+ employees. It felt like the perfect time to finally sit down and react to Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" and discuss the message behind one of the most talked-about songs of the Lover era. Not to mention, it's been exactly 7 years since Taylor released this song and music video. So what better time than now?
Today, Rick and Robert react to Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" for the very first time, and this one turns into much more than just a music reaction.
Before diving into the music video, we start by watching the lyric video so the guys can focus on Taylor's words without getting distracted by the visuals. Then we jump into one of Taylor Swift's most iconic and talked-about music videos from the Lover era.
Along the way we discuss:
🎵 The lyrics and message behind You Need To Calm Down
🎵 Taylor Swift's support of the LGBTQ+ community
🎵 The transition from Reputation's snakes to Lover's butterflies
🎵 The massive celebrity cameos throughout the music video
🎵 The drag queen section and all the pop culture references
🎵 The ending featuring Taylor Swift and Katy Perry
🎵 Taylor's Equality Act petition featured at the end of the video
🎵 Taylor's MTV VMA Video of the Year acceptance speech
🎵 Why this song was designed to start conversations
🎵 Why voting and civic engagement matter
🎵 Why treating people with dignity and respect shouldn't be controversial
We also accidentally give Cher credit to Marilyn Monroe at one point... which is exactly the kind of professionalism you've come to expect from Hazed Reactions. 😂
Pride Month is observed each June in recognition of the LGBTQ+ community and the ongoing fight for equality, inspired by the events surrounding the Stonewall uprising in June 1969.
This reaction includes discussion of Taylor Swift's You Need To Calm Down music video, Taylor Swift Lover era analysis, LGBTQ+ representation in music videos, Taylor Swift Easter eggs, Taylor Swift reaction content, music video breakdowns, MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift activism, Equality Act discussion, pop culture analysis, and first-time reactions.

I hope you guys add Miss Americana to your list to watch if the guys haven’t seen it yet. 🤗👏🏼
Thank you so much for providing so much context and effort into finding all of this info. I feel like it is so important and I appreciate you so much ❤️ you guys are awesome
Hey, maybe the boys will have to watch miss Americana at some point. That will show the moment she started standing up to power! 🫶
Taylor is the godmother to all three of Blake and Ryan’s daughters (their names are James, Inez, and Betty which are used in folklore).
Thanks for adding that, completely forgot that detail!
If you are going to Toy Story 5 stay until after the credits. Pixar have done a “Taylor Swift” and added an extra scene!
Love it, thanks for the tip!! We’re Marvel fans so we’re used to having to wait for the end credits to be done so that’s perfect haha 🫶🏼♥️
👏👏👏👏👏👏🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Let me see your hands ❤️
Her money backs up what she believes too!

Great reaction did I miss the discord link?
Hey I know I’m late to this comment but it’s in the description of the video ♥️
Hi guys so I did a thing. I really appreciate your reactions so I did my best to make a playlist on YouTube for the Taylor songs you've done in order to help make it easier for Corrina when she's ready to post it. I added multiple versions of some songs because I figured it might help to have more than you need. This isn't to rush you, I just wanted to show my gratitude in a tangible way. Let me know if you want any changes. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcjoc8PM3tRE&si=rFoXNC_s-LrV6r6U Love you guys ♥️
Hey wow that’s so sweet, thank you so much!!! Appreciate you and your time more than you know!!! 🫶🏼♥️
Fun facs: everyone in the cast got their own moon man, per Taylor request. And, she made Todrick her co executive producer. It was sweet because it was not arranged since the beginning, there's a bts where she recognizes all his help and gives him a note dance-asking-out-style asking him if he wants to be her co executive produce. Check ✅️ [no] or [yaaas].
Great reaction y’all
Looks like Ric missed when Taylor looked at her watch.
